Join the Chief Risk Officer sector in the role of Specialist, Quality Assurance (Regulatory and Legislative Compliance). Your strong knowledge of regulatory and legislative compliance risk management will ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, frameworks and authorities to provide management with confidence in the operations of the business.
Responsibilities:
- Develops the framework for compliance requirements risk assessments including identifying key sectors and areas of exposure and the parameters for risk assessments, relying on expertise and assistance from Legal Services.
- Promote an effective compliance culture, including delivery of training session to business units and provides ad-hoc support.
- Develops and communicates the annual plan, including risk assessments to be performed, monitoring/testing approaches, documentation and reporting requirements.
- Coordination with business units to ensure compliance risk assessments are performed on a timely basis and are well documented and substantiated, assessing rigour and consistency across the organization.
- Conduct oversight of ongoing compliance monitoring/control testing, and aggregate and report corporate wide results to Senior Management.
- Evaluate areas of vulnerability and provide directive leadership for the implementation of corrective actions for their resolution.
- Recommend and assist in the implementation of key performance and/or risk indicators and/or outcome targets to improve business effectiveness and efficiency.
- Discuss/validate findings and facts with CMHC personnel and appropriate level of management throughout the assignment and prepare written communications on results and recommendations for improvement and participate in debriefs with management.
- Analyze data sets and information to provide management with quantitative and qualitative information for decision making.
- Provide guidance and/or direction to analysts and staff regarding quality control and risk management improvements to enhance business operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in a related field such as business, finance, law or economics.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a compliance function.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the legislations and regulations which apply to Government/Crown Corporations and experience in applying these concepts, practices and procedures in risk management function.
- Excellent interpersonal skills (tact, judgment, diplomacy, professionalism, and political sensitivity).
- Superior oral and written communication skills including reporting and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and organizational skills initiating, developing and managing multiple projects.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to research issues, analyze problems, synthesize information and make recommendations.
- Ability to identify training needs, prepare and deliver training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licenses and certifications such as CPA designation.
