About the role
Join the Policy Results and Operations team, where we are a key partner to the Department of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada in federal housing policy. We use data to support evidence-based policy outcomes and results, and support the operations of the policy function.

 

Please note there are two (2) positions to fill: one (1) permanent position and one (1) temporary position to December 2025.

 

Please also note the operational needs of the team generally require for team members to be available Monday to Friday from 9:00AM – 5:00PM EST. 

 

What you’ll do:

  • Support the development of solutions to complex measurement questions, working with others to design data and analytics tools to assess and forecast performance of investments in housing. 
  • Develop comprehensive recommendations and guidance for senior management and the government on federal housing policy and program options, program performance, and outcomes. 
  • Support decisions about housing policy in Canada through robust quantitative analysis and application of business intelligence.
  • Work with others to increase data availability to support analysis on results of federal investments in housing.
  • Liaise and maintain strong relationships with CMHC’s portfolio department, the Department of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities, on a wide variety of requests related to housing policy, results and data sharing.
  • Support efficiency in day-to-day business of the sector and other partners through coordination.

 

What you should have:

  • An undergraduate degree in a quantitative field such as Economics or social sciences and five years of relevant experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis to advise on policies, programs and strategies. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience in public policy or relevant field can be considered. 
  • Knowledge of the methods, techniques and practices of performance measurement, and/or Treasury Board guidelines on results. 
  • Knowledge of quantitative modeling and business intelligence techniques and practices. Knowledge of methods, theories and practices of data analysis and manipulation. 
  • A strong ability to communicate complex data analysis into clear, straightforward messages and recommendations for a range of audiences. 
  • Developed ability to influence outcomes.  
  • Highly developed analytical, critical thinking and conceptual skills to effectively contribute to business objectives and strategic direction. 
  • A good understanding of organizational structures and how to   get buy-in from various stakeholders.
  • The ability to simultaneously manage a range of priorities, at the strategic and operational level, under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment .

 

It would be great if you also had:

  • Knowledge of housing systems.
  • Knowledge of statistical tools, methodologies, or data tools including PowerBI.
