Join CMHC’s Research team in the Specialist, Data Analysis position. In your role, you will undertake data retrieval, analysis and provide advice relating to social, economic, and socio-economic information with the ultimate purpose of informing decision-making and enhancing risk management.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts data mining and data analyses using a variety of tools to extract qualitative and quantitative data for reporting, model development and validation and the interpretation of model results; monitors the integrity of data and databases.
- Documents all existing and newly developed data mining methodologies; compiles information and undertakes routine review and analysis on a variety of topics and issues.
- Responds to data inquiries by providing thoughtful, evidence-based insights regarding the performance of various housing programs; conducts assigned portions of research studies and projects, providing support to teams to optimize data use.
- Applies data expertise and business knowledge to compile qualitative and quantitative data while helping internal and external stakeholders use data and interpret data results.
- Participates in the development of policies, guidelines and internal protocols regarding data, data-mining methodologies, procedures, and analytics.
- Maintains relationships with key stakeholders to ensure availability of strategic data required to develop, validate, and implement models using state-of-the-art methods and technology.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree from a recognized university in Statistics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, Computer Science, or a combination of relevant professional work experience.
- Minimum of five years of relevant work experience with a demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous analysis using critical thinking and judgment to resolve complex issues.
- Good understanding of data formats/structures and relevant tools used to extract data and perform complex analysis; ability to work in a sophisticated technological environment.
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with research and analysis of primary and secondary data using appropriate methodologies, qualitative and/or quantitative and statistical analysis and providing facts, evidence, and conclusions to support internal and external decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to capture and synthesize information to develop relevant, value-added recommendations and provide advice.
- Advanced project management skills; strong written and oral communication skills including presentation, negotiation and influencing skills, and the ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles to communicate messages that have the desired effect.
- Demonstrated experience developing research projects in terms of scope, objectives, methodologies, and project management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of housing finance and knowledge of CRM is an asset.
