About the role

Join the Securitization 1B Risk Management and Credit team in the Senior Specialist, Compliance and Quality Assurance position. In this role, you will contribute to the identification, assessment, monitoring, reporting, and management of CMHC's operational risks for the Securitization business line. You will leverage your leadership, strategic insight, forward-thinking mindset, and analytical expertise to shape policy and program direction and contribute to effective risk governance, including operational risk, and internal controls in their ongoing activities and as part of strategic initiatives. You will also oversee and undertake the successful completion of assigned monitoring, compliance and oversight, including planning, conduct, reporting, and wrap-up challenge activities and reviews within established timeframes. You will also contribute to the design, development and maintenance of risks tools, models analytics and reporting.

 

What you’ll do:  

 

  • Lead the development and oversight of risk management monitoring and governance activities. Collaborate with Product Strategy groups to co-develop risk appetite statements, and ensure compliance with tolerance limits, policies, guidelines, procedures, and applicable regulatory and legislative requirements, including escalation protocols.
  • Contribute to the identification of trends/gaps in processes and practices by using data analytics and provide insights necessary to mitigate risks.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators, targets, and outcomes, while leading the delivery of operational performance reporting to support informed decision-making.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in your designated business area, providing thought leadership on strategic, reputational, and operational risk. Prioritize the needs of business partners by delivering proactive, client-focused proximity risk management support.
  • Present complex results, influence decisions and outcomes, and persuade others to take a course of action to improve the corporation’s risk posture.
  • Review internal processes to identify opportunities for enhancing risk response activities, recommend process improvements, and manage the documentation of key risks, mitigation strategies (such as acceptance, avoidance, or reduction), and the effectiveness of those responses.
  • Act as the Risk Lead for corporate priorities and new programs or products, delivering tangible value through strategic and tactical risk insights. Contribute to key discussions at relevant forums, including those involving senior management.

 


What you should have: 

 

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field such as Commerce, Economics, or Business Administration.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years' experience in risk management and reporting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Structured Finance and/or Securitization.
  • An ability to take initiative, clearly transmit/receive information and communicate effectively with others by considering their points of view to respond appropriately. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to communicate abstract analytics findings to senior level stakeholders effectively. 
  • An ability to deliver advisory and risk analysis with concision, precision and with a fast turnaround, in a highly competitive environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify, analyze, and interpret trends, patterns, and connections between issues, combined with attention to detail, excellent organizational abilities, and the capacity to prioritize effectively in a high-demand, multitasking environment.
  • Deep expertise in understanding the business context to inform effective planning, sound judgment, and strategic decision-making.
     

 

It would be great if you also had:

 

  • Professional designation in a risk management and/or CFA .
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and/or business partnerships.
  • Bilingualism in both official languages.
