Analytics Specialist (Position can be located anywhere in Canada)

Join the Policy and Innovation Team, where we accelerate housing affordability through evidence-based policy, research and disruptive innovation. In this role, you will contribute to the effective delivery of data science projects in the Policy and Research sector. This includes being involved in scoping the initial concept to tracking projects through development and deployment while applying best practices in Business Analysis, business acumen and project management. You will be working closely with the project team in the development and implementation of initiatives while helping us make housing affordable for everyone in Canada.

This is a 12-month temporary role.

• Analyze business requirements and track projects in the context of analytics and data science.
• Lead project scoping and information gathering sessions to ensure there is a common understanding of scope. Derives success measures and targets to track project milestones and deliverables.
• Lead documentation of project material including scoping documents, project reports and deliverables and presentations to stakeholder teams.
• Lead project status sessions to ensure there is a common understanding across stakeholders on evolving scope and progress against targets and budget.
• Applies a broad knowledge of CMHC programs, policies, and procedures in discussing and communicating the potential for data science to make a difference. Be an effective sounding board for generating new ideas for data science projects.
• Make recommendations to mitigate identified risks and to address potential, emerging issues on projects.
• Facilitates communication with stakeholders including soliciting feedback / input throughout the development cycle and develops supporting documentation.
• Contributes to process improvement for project management and project delivery in the team.
• Prior experience on the development or validation of machine learning models is an asset.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics or a related field. Master’s degree would be considered an asset.
• Minimum 5 years experience in business analysis and project management for data science or analytics modelling projects.
• Prior experience or knowledge of CRISP-DM or similar methodology for analytics or data science.
• Excellent business analysis skills with a focus on analytical projects and risk management.
• Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills, including the ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly.  
•  Knowledge of the fast-paced analytics software ecosystem including data science and modeling techniques. Experience with Azure DevOps for Project Management. Strong knowledge of analytics tools such as R, Python, Apache Spark and experience with MS Project is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to work on several initiatives simultaneously and work within tight deadlines.
•Business knowledge of mortgage loan insurance, affordable/social housing programs, real estate and finance is an asset.
