Join the Office of the Chief Risk Officer Team – Multi-Unit Oversight & Risk Analytics, where you will contribute in overseeing the identification, assessment, monitoring, reporting and management of CMHC's risks in the Multi-unit business. You will also contribute to the design, development and maintenance of risk management frameworks, risk tools, models and analytics as related to the Multi-unit business.  You will develop strong and trusted relationships with CMHC’s multi-unit business lines as well as internal and external stakeholders and leverage analytic insights and risk expertise to influence CMHC's strategic directions, policy setting and regulations. 


Responsibilities: 

 

  • With respect to key inherent risks, oversee as well as provide analysis on CMHC's risk profile and risk issues in Multi-unit space, including new and emerging risks, utilizing a combination of quantitative and qualitative assessment techniques.
  • Contribute to the development of risk appetite statements, tolerance levels and thresholds, as well as risk frameworks, policies and models/tools.
  • Keep in tune with industry trends, techniques, tools, best practices and use cases to steer CMHC internal improvement and innovation of risk management in the Multi-unit business.
  • Lead research on market trends, economic conditions and other factors that influence CMHC's risks.
  • Use analytic and research insights as well as risk expertise to guide risk assessment and management and to influence strategic direction, policy setting and business directions.
  • Provide support, advice, concurrence to first line of defence on new Multi-unit business strategy and initiatives to ensure key risks well identified, managed, and aligned with risk appetite and business outcomes 


Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Postgraduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as finance, mathematics, economics, statistics and actuarial sciences.
  • Minimum of five years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in leading projects in a team setting
  • Solid understanding of all key risks to CMHC, specifically the Multi-unit business.
  • Superior oral and written communication and presentation skills with ability to interact and influence a wide stakeholder group on a broad range of complex subject matter.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources and identify linkages between economic/market trends, key risks and their impacts.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional designation (Actuarial, Chartered Financial Analyst, Professional Risk Manager, Financial Risk Manager, Certificate in Quantitative Finance) considered an asset.
