About the role
Join the Survey Data Processing team, in the Specialist, Survey Statistics and Information Systems position. As part of this role, you will be responsible for developing, designing, and enhancing the methodological framework for the Housing Market Surveys and related computer systems to support the business needs of all regions and sectors of CMHC. You will also provide guidance and advice on statistical and survey methodology for the design and implementation of surveys conducted for or by CMHC.
This is a temporary position of a duration of 12 months.
What you’ll do:
- Design, implement and monitor the comprehensive methodological framework of the Housing Market Surveys including data reliability measures, estimation systems and statistical models. Use sophisticated statistical analysis techniques to ensure high levels of data quality and reliability, maintain system integrity, enhance the usefulness of the Housing Market Surveys, recommend and develop improvements.
- Develop and apply statistical analysis techniques to maximize corporate benefits from information collected through surveys, administrative data, and other information sources.
- Conduct primary research in the provision of specialized methodology and statistical analysis research, keeping abreast of developments in the fields of surveys and statistics, in particular as they relate to the conduct and analysis of housing-related surveys and information-gathering projects.
- Produce programming solutions by developing end-user systems using the latest products and software. Keep up to date with new technologies.
- Serve as a key technical resource for complex problems by providing systems analysis, programming advice and problem solving.
What you should have:
- An undergraduate degree in statistics, mathematics or computer science or a related field.
- A minimum of three years of work experience in the design, development, and management of statistical projects.
- Thorough expert understanding of survey methods, their application, and the use of computer technology in survey processing and analyses, along with the practical knowledge of how best to employ them in a large and decentralized operation.
- Demonstrated experience and thorough expert understanding of statistical techniques, particularly in the areas of survey methodologies, statistical analysis, statistical. modelling and estimation systems
- Demonstrated experience of SAS, R or Python.
- Proven abilities in problem solving, decision making, use of analytical techniques and ability to undertake and complete multiple concurrent tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and explain findings in simple terms to internal/external clients.
