Join the Policy sector, where we accelerate housing affordability through evidence-based policies, research, and innovation. You will be responsible for managing, developing and designing the methodological framework for Housing Surveys and related computer systems. You will process, analyze and deliver Housing Surveys data through programming and analysis in the context of survey methodological and quality objectives. You will also provide guidance and advice on statistical and survey methodology for the design and implementation of surveys conducted for or by CMHC and act as a key survey methodologist and survey analysis specialist at CMHC.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Designs, implements and monitors the comprehensive methodological framework of the Housing Market Surveys including sampling schemes, data reliability measures, estimation systems (e.g., weighting, ratio estimates), and statistical models using modern technologies.
  • Designs, develops and implements special supplementary surveys conducted as add-ons to the Housing Market Surveys.
  • Uses sophisticated statistical analysis techniques, and SAS, R or Python programming skills, to ensure high levels of data quality, maintain system integrity, enhance the usefulness of the Housing Market Surveys and recommend improvements.
  • Provides functional guidance and support to internal/external clients and survey staff, in particular for the appropriate and meaningful use of housing market survey data.
  • Advises and works with other survey methodologists and information business analysts on survey methodology and housing market data strategies and issues and provides expert analysis and advice on time series and seasonal adjustment.
  • Develops and applies sophisticated and complex statistical analysis techniques to maximize corporate benefits from information collected through surveys, administrative data, and other information sources.
  • Understanding, influencing and/or serving people are important considerations in causing actions or acceptance by others.

 

Minimum qualifications:

 

  • Minimum bachelor university degree in statistics, mathematics or a related field. Master’s degree is an asset.
  • Minimum of three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Thorough expert understanding of sampling and survey methods and their application and the use of computer technology in survey processing and analyses, along with practical knowledge of how best to employ them in a large and decentralized operation.
  • Demonstrated experience and thorough expert understanding in statistical techniques, particularly in the areas of survey methodologies, statistical analysis, seasonal adjustment, time series, data release methodologies, statistical modelling and estimation systems.
  • Extensive and proven experience in SAS, R or Python.
  • Proven ability in problem solving and decision-making and focus on results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and explain findings in simple terms to internal/external clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
