About the role

Join the Office of the Chief Risk Officer Team, in the Specialist, quality control position. This position offers a great opportunity to join the Compliance and Governance team, where you will ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, guidelines, and authorities, providing management and the Board with confidence in the organization’s delegated authority, oversight, and operations.

You will lead and monitor the successful completion of assigned development, review compliance, oversight and/or governance documentation (policy and supportive documents) from start to finish, including planning, conduct, reporting and wrap-up activities within established timeframes by enforcing the Policy Governance Policy requirements. You will apply risk and control concepts to scenarios encountered and identify any potential issues. You will communicate issues and risks to senior specialist and manager to ensure any potential concerns are addressed in a timely and effective manner.

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Support the development, implementation and maintenance of CMHC`s Policy Governance Policy (PGP) and supports the development of key risk policies and supporting documents. 
  • Work with risk oversight partners to ensure policies are current, aligned to PGP, and maintained on the policy library.
  • Provide strategic and expert governance advice in the drafting of corporate governance documents related to CMHC risks, strategy, risk appetite and operational direction. 
  • Promote and leverage appropriate legislative and regulatory provisions, requirements, standards and practices, as applicable, in conducting work activities.
  • Contribute to policy governance assessments by evaluating policy requirements and ensuring rigor and consistency in the application of policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Ensure appropriate risk awareness, risk and control identification and monitoring by working closely with applicable CMHC personnel (e.g., Legal, Internal Audit and other oversight/monitoring groups).

 

What you should have:

 

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or Economics or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A demonstrated experience in risk management, compliance and risk governance.
  • Sound judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (tact, judgment, diplomacy, professionalism, and political sensitivity).
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, including strong presentation skills.
  • The ability to influence decisions and outcomes, and persuade others to take a course of action to improve the corporation’s risk governance posture.

 

It would be great if you also had:

 

  • Bilingual (English & French).
