This position reports to the Audit and Compliance team in our Office of the Chief Risk Officer. This sector enables each employee to embrace strategic risks within established limits.


About the role
We’re constantly evolving to build an inclusive housing system through research, design, innovation and partnerships. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with established policies, procedures, frameworks and authorities to provide management with confidence in the operations of the business.  You will drive insights discovery through the right combination of quantitative techniques, analytical expertise and use of a variety of technologies while ensuring integrity and accuracy of data.  You will be responsible for communicating identified risks to senior management to ensure any potential concerns are addressed in timely and effective manner.  Your expertise delivering results through appropriate channels and making adjustments based on the audience that will help us make housing affordable for everyone in Canada.


What you will need
• Undergraduate degree from a recognized university in business administration, economics or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of prior experience in banking and/or risk management and/or quality assurance or an equivalent combination of related education and experience;
• Expertise in the standard Microsoft suite, SAS and other tools such as open source tools (R, Python) and data visualization (Power BI, Tableau);
• Sound analytical skills with demonstrated quantitative/qualitative analytical and problem-solving skills to capture and synthesize information and develop recommendations and provide advice.
• Developed communication skills and the ability to make clear and concise presentations for decision-making.
• Excellent interpersonal skills (tact, discretion, judgment, diplomacy and professionalism);
• Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills;

What you will be doing
• Develop and oversee the processes and practices for the collection, analysis and evaluation of information to achieve assignment objectives and to identify trends, gaps, errors and risk incidents and propose improvements necessary to cover risks.
• Lead the execution of ongoing monitoring, testing, evaluating and reporting on key processes, controls and policy/program requirements, framework requirements, assessing rigour and consistency in the application of policies, procedures and controls.
• Provide guidance on risk and control matters, including remediation actions to address issues and make recommendations for improvements to management.
• Identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement where CMHC is at risk and recommend actions to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
• Consult with clients during the reviews to ensure a common understanding of the facts and the recognition of major observations and ensure effective relationships with clients and stakeholders;
• Research leading industry best practices, and keeping abreast of regulations and internal and external changes impacting the business environment.
