About the role
Join the Compliance Office in the role of Specialist, Quality Assurance (Regulatory Compliance). Your strong knowledge of regulatory compliance risk management will support the organization in monitoring compliance with established laws, regulations, OSFI guidelines and Treasury Board policies to provide management with confidence in the operations of the business.

 

This is a temporary position of a duration of 16 months. 

 
What you’ll do:

  • Maintain an inventory of regulatory compliance requirements (i.e. compliance universe), and follow established procedures to prioritize regulatory risks by sector.
  • Lead a regulatory scan process to maintain the compliance universe, and work with impacted parties when there are changes in regulatory expectations to ensure timely compliance.  
  • Coordinate with business units to ensure regulatory requirements are risk-rated and controls are identified and tested in accordance with CMHC’s Internal Control Framework. Perform oversight of control testing and alignment to CMHC risk practices
  • Aggregate and reporting compliance risk in relation to risk appetite on behalf of the Chief Compliance Officer to Senior Management.
  • Evaluate risk incidents by supporting the business in the performance of a root cause analysis and implementation of appropriate corrective actions.
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of Risk Appetite statements and measures, key regulatory compliance performance and/or risk indicators and/or outcome targets to monitor compliance risk and improve business effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Promote an effective compliance culture, including delivery of training session to business units, and provide guidance to staff regarding quality control and risk management improvements to enhance business operations.

 
What you should have: 
 

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field such as accounting, business, finance, law or economics.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a compliance or auditing function related to established laws, regulations, OSFI guidelines and Treasury Board policies .
  • In-depth knowledge of control frameworks, including creating documentation, flowcharts, and control matrices and performing risk assessments in accordance with frameworks such as COSO. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legislations, regulations and guidelines which apply to Government/Crown Corporations and experience in applying these concepts, practices and procedures enterprise-wide applying a risk-based approach. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (tact, judgment, diplomacy, professionalism, and political sensitivity).
  • Superior oral and written communication skills including reporting and presentation skills.
  • A demonstrated experience in project management and organizational skills initiating, developing and managing multiple projects.
  • The ability to research issues, analyze problems, synthesize information and make recommendations
  • The ability to identify training needs, prepare and deliver training.
  • Knowledge of software tools to document and analyse risk information e.g. Sharepoint, PowerBI, GRC solutions.


It would be great if you also had: 

 

  • A professional designation such as CPA (Certified Professional Accountant).
