Bring your IT knowledge and your risk oversight/ auditing skills to this Senior Analyst position located in Ottawa.
 
We are currently looking to fill a permanent full-time opening on the Operational Risk Oversight team.  As part of the second line of defence overseeing the IT Sector, you will be responsible for providing technical advice and expertise in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Corporation’s Operational Risk Management Framework (policies, guidelines, tools) and the performance of oversight activities. 

 

How you will be contributing
•    Promoting an effective risk culture including awareness and accountability for identifying and managing risks.
•    Identifying, assessing, measuring, controlling and reporting on operational risk.
•    Providing expert advice, guidance and training related to the Framework, operational risk metrics, tolerance limits and associated tools to Business Areas, including (senior) managers and directors.
•    Leading divisional / sector deliverables, and responding to (senior) managers / directors on ad hoc requests.
•    Overseeing compliance to Corporate policies and ensuring appropriate documentation of oversight work. 
•    Preparing various reports on CMHC’s operational risk profile, operational risk appetite and on any significant operational risk issues, including new and emerging risks.
•    Monitoring and reporting on highly complex operational risk issues and events as well as on the status of action items to be addressed. 
•    Actively liaising with stakeholders including other monitoring and oversight functions.
•    Researching and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of risk management and control frameworks and best practices.
•    Coaching other team members, performing peer reviews and acting on behalf of the manager in their absence as required. 

 

What we are looking for
•    Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or in a related field with a minimum of  seven (7) years of increasing responsibilities and relevant work experience in Risk or Audit. An equivalent combination of related education and work experience may be considered.
•    Demonstrated experience in assessing and reviewing business lines’ governance, work processes, controls and/or risk management.
•    Demonstrated work experience and skills in providing strategic risk advice, recommendations, guidance and services to senior management on highly complex risk issues.
•    Demonstrated experience in creating presentations, reports and briefings for Senior Management.
•    Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of operational risk management, regulatory guidance and industry practices.
•    Demonstrated work experience in overseeing the work of other professionals.
•    Experience and/or knowledge within one or more of the following IT domains: Cybersecurity; Cloud technologies; Business continuity management and disaster recovery; Data governance and information management; and Vendor management.
•    Fundamental understanding of internal control concepts.
•    Demonstrated experience and skills in working with various computer applications and software (e.g., MS Office and MS Visio).
•    Strong organizational skills, including an ability to manage several ongoing and competing tasks and/or projects.
•    Ability to build and manage effective working relationships with peers, and internal and external stakeholders.
Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to challenge senior management on risk issues.
