Salary: Our salaries generally range from $ 83038.35 to $ 103797.93 and are based on qualifications and experience.

About the role
Join the Enterprise Data Office in the Specialist, Data Governance position. In this role, you will support the design, development, implementation, maintenance, evolution and enhancement of the Information Management (IM) functions (information, data, knowledge and records) at CMHC. You will help the organization realize the full value of its structured and unstructured data and information assets and evolve the corporate information taxonomy. You will also implement and manage a data/information governance model and frameworks to address the safe, effective and efficient sharing of information across CMHC.  
 
What you’ll do:

  • Assist in creating data and information strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Define and enforce data and information governance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy throughout the data lifecycle by defining and enforcing governance standards.
  • Provide guidance on implementing access controls, data classification protocols, and data protection measures to ensure security and privacy compliance.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with data and information governance, ensuring alignment with CMHC’s risk taxonomy.
  • Keep updated on industry trends, standards, and regulatory requirements related to data and information governance, recommending modifications to policies and practices as needed.
  • Help manage the implementation of procedures to ensure compliance with CMHC’s risk taxonomy.
  • Provide guidance and training to business users and stakeholders on data governance and information management best practices, policies, and procedures.

 
What you should have: 

  • An undergraduate degree from a recognized university in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in operationalizing an established data governance framework.
  • Prior experience in a data governance or data management role, with a focus on data governance, data quality, or data stewardship is an asset.
  • A good understanding of data structures used for storing and retrieving information.
  • A good understanding of data life cycle and data value chain.
  • A demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous analysis using critical thinking and judgment to resolve complex issues.
  • A demonstrated ability to present complex concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • A proven ability to think strategically and develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives.
