This position reports to the Financial Services team in our Office of the SVP, Client Operations sector. This sector makes delivering housing affordability solutions easy.


Note: This is a 12-month temporary mandate.

About the role
We’re constantly evolving to build an inclusive housing system through research, design, innovation and partnerships. You will conduct creditworthiness analyses and evaluations of existing and potential
counterparties to support CMHC’s multi-unit programs. You will apply credit risk measures and methodologies in line with best practices to provide increased precision around business decisions. You will lead the synthesis and delivery of strategic financial guidance to various corporate clients, as well as conducting ad-hoc financial analysis and advice as prioritized or requested by management. You will proactively develop an in-depth understanding of the business operations through discussion and analysis, distilling financial needs, and gaining trust as a business partner. You will also provide financial expertise, strategic advice on financial activities, financial analytical support, operational risk monitoring, research on analytical techniques and support on best practices and procedures. This will help us make housing affordable for everyone in Canada.

What you will need
• Undergraduate degree in a related field such as business, accounting, finance, commerce or economics.
• Chartered Financial Analyst, Financial Risk Manager or Chartered Professional Accountant designation is preferred.  Successful completion of a professional designation is considered an asset.
• Minimum of five years of prior experience in proponent financial analysis.
• Knowledge of fundamental credit/financial analysis and risk management practices.
• Good knowledge of multi-unit underwriting operations
• Strong analytical reasoning and an ability to resolve complex problems relying on incomplete data.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in French and in English. 
• Ability to take initiative and work both independently and in a team environment.
• Attention to details, excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and work in a multi-demand environment.
• Intermediate MS Excel skills, knowledge of market information and analysis systems (Bloomberg, Reuters, S&P Capital IQ)
• Very good understanding of financial statements and general accounting principles.


What you will be doing
• Prepare credit risk assessments of Multi-Unit Insurance borrowers/applicants. This activity includes the review of the borrowers/applicants financial statements and organization structure, the calculation of financial ratios and the preparation of a credit risk report to management.
• Provide advice and recommendations to appropriate staff and management on borrower creditworthiness.
• Establish and maintain meaningful relationships with key relevant stakeholders to gain a thorough understanding of the operations and environment, facilitate collaboration in accomplishing credit analysis tasks, and influence complex business decisions.
• Identify and implement improvements relating to the efficiency and quality of the financial analysis, the credit risk report and the credit risk review process
• Provide analytical assistance to various ongoing and occasional corporate initiatives and to the functional teams.
• Perform, document, and guide ad-hoc financial analysis for areas that have been prioritized by management or other key stakeholders.
