About the role
Join the Enterprise Architecture and Advanced Analytics Team in the Specialist, Business Intelligence position. In this role, you will be working with the Center of Enablement team to enhance our practices maturity as part of our Corporate Data Program and support BI/AA solution strategy and prioritization management. You will provide guidance on the strategic design and implementation of BI and Advanced Analytics solutions from back-end components to front-end user interaction/experience. You will also support our Analytics Community of Practice by assisting with community adoption and participation, providing subject matter expertise, and influencing the adoption of infrastructure and technology choices that support the maturity of the BI/AA capabilities at CMHC. You will work closely with stream leaders, business teams, data stewards, project/program managers, and other IT teams, and partners to turn data into insights and as such maturing our data-driven and decision-making environment.
 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Work within the Center of Enablement team to support the maturity of the analytics capability by developing solutions, as well as perform knowledge transfer to share principles/techniques utilized and develop/introduce best practices to drive organizational buy-in.
  • Maintain current operational processes and perform risk management assessments.
  • Support the scoping of Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytic solution sessions with business lines to capture business objectives and prioritize opportunities.
  • Support the analytical cycle by working with Business SMEs and develop BI/AA solutions that consistently meet or exceed stakeholder requirements.
  • Recommend ongoing/potential enhancements to solutions to continue to provide meaningful insights and lead business decisions.
  • Design and deliver knowledge transfer sessions, including the support of live BI/AA processes.

 

What you should have:

 

  • An undergraduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Physics or any other related quantitative field.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant work experience developing and implementing BI/AA solutions, data mining and modeling, managing large and complex data sets, and ability to transform and prepare data to feed models.
  • A minimum of two years of hands-on work experience with Microsoft Power BI designing, developing, implementing, and optimizing dashboard and reporting solutions with a focus on usability, user experience, and performance.
  • An experience with Power BI security methodologies; aligning business use cases with security solutions.
  • An advanced proficiency in Data Analysis Expression (DAX), M, ETL (Power Query), SQL (or data extraction and integration tools), and performance optimization, and a knowledge of R/Python/Spark with an ability to learn new tools as needed.
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills, out-of-the-box thinking, a drive for innovation, and the ability to execute ideas.
  • A strong ability to work on several initiatives simultaneously and work within tight deadlines.
  • The ability to communicate clearly in conversation and presentations to both technical and non-technical staff, and to provide updates to all levels of management and stakeholders.

 

It would be great if you also had: 

 

  • CMHC business knowledge.
  • Predictive/Prescriptive Analytics experience.
  • Power BI/ Databricks certifications.
