This position reports to the Risk Governance team in our Office of the Chief Risk Officer sector. This sector enables each employee to embrace strategic risks within established limits

 

About the role
As a leader in risk management, CMHC is committed to ensuring it has in place risk governance and management frameworks/programs that align with the regulatory landscape, changing risk environment and practices of industry leaders. This position will exercise ongoing thought leadership around how risk is being managed and governed at CMHC to ensure consistency and rigor is applied. Specifically, this position will lead a benchmarking exercise and overall review of the current Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Risk Governance structure to ensure gaps as well as opportunities for enhancement are filled/identified. As well, this position will establish a compliance program for internal policies that considers a risk-based approach and an appropriate balance between sounds practices and effective risk management. 

 

What you will need
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Education or a related field or an equivalent combination of skills and work experience
• 7 years’ relevant work experience (or an equivalent combination of work and experience)
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of risk management, governance and compliance principles
• Great understanding of Corporate business lines and operations
• Ability to think strategically, connect dots
• Ability to engage and influence in a collaborative way
• Ability to manage many deliverables and make sound decisions in an effective manner
• Strong communications skills with a strong emphasis on highly developed writing skills
• Some knowledge of educational methodologies will be considered an asset

 

What you will be doing
• Lead a benchmarking exercise and review of CMHC’s Enterprise Risk Management and overall Risk Governance Framework/Program to ensure it remains effective yet rigorous and aligned with best in class practices
• Establish a compliance program to ensure internal risk policies
