About the role
We’re constantly evolving to build an inclusive housing system through research, design, innovation and partnerships. As a Senior Specialist, Risk, you will provide support in the oversight capacity on risks of CMHC's Multi-Unit and Assisted Housing business activities (e.g.  policies, initiatives, products, system, credit approval, etc.) that will ultimately strengthen Chief Risk Officer and Director decisions. Your experience of Multi-Unit risk monitoring and reporting will provide relevant business context to inform other risk management experts, which will help us make housing affordable for everyone in Canada. 

What you will need 
•    Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or Actuarial Sciences or a related field
•    Minimum 5 years’ relevant work experience (or an equivalent combination of work and experience)
•    Expertise in providing technical leadership.
•    Detailed understanding of all key risks of CMHC's environment and reputational risks.
•    Demonstrated experience in interpreting economic trends and market relationships.
•    Superior oral and written communication and presentation skills with demonstrated expertise in conveying technical information to non-technical users.
•    Knowledge of regulatory and economic capital management theories and practices.
•    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
•    Ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources and make linkages between key risks and their impacts.
•    Ability to interact and influence a wide stakeholder group, including senior management and peers with advanced education up to and including the PhD level, utilizing highly quantitative and qualitative technical analysis methods on a broad range of complex subject ma

What you will be doing
•    Assist loan and business decisions by providing support to the Oversight Operations associated with Multi-unit and Assisted Housing activities. This includes the identification, assessment and mitigation of risks, inform the development of internal models, as well as effectively supporting the challenge of business recommendations ( initiatives, pricing, new products, policies, credit decisions, etc..) 
•    Support the enhancement and automation of risk reporting and measuring complex risk exposure.
•    Develop and maintain productive relationships between CRO with internal and external partners to support effective oversight.
•    Assist, at times, in the development of Lender Quality Assurance (LQA) program procedure development.
•    CMHC knowledge and awareness of operational risks
•    Analytics capacity to support better setting of strategy, policy and business decisions
•    Effective relationships with stakeholders, network and model users.
