Senior Specialist, Master Data Management (Position can be located anywhere in Canada)

Join the Office of the Chief Information Officer team, where we lead our digital transformation in improving data quality and integrity to accelerate housing affordability. We’re constantly evolving to build an inclusive housing system through research, design, innovation, and partnerships. In this role, you will support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of Master Data Management. You will also help the organization realize the full value of its structured data assets and evolve the corporate data-operating model to address the safe, effective, and efficient sharing of data across CMHC.


  • Leads determination of requirements from business teams for the implementation of Master Data Management capabilities (functional and nonfunctional)
  • Participates in the continuous revision of the MDM roadmap, supporting identifying and prioritizing Master Data domains
  • Develops and leads execution of an implementation plan for MDM for each priority data domain 
  • Supports and leads (as required) data quality profiling work to identify data quality issues and define data quality rules/data quality improvement measures
  • Supports change management on the implementation of a federated Master Data stewardship framework
  • Provided technical advice to manage data throughout its life cycle, including the transition from aging or no longer supported applications to the corporate standard applications.
  • Monitors the qualitative and quantitative business benefits for various data governance deliverables utilizing key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Conducts research and analysis on proposed legislative/regulatory changes, industry leading practices, employee needs and technological advances to determine requirements for governing and managing data
  • Ensure the effective implementation of data governance frameworks, policies, guidelines, and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field such as computer science, business, finance, or commerce
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Data Governance and/or Data management processes and technology OR a master’s degree in a data related subject (Management of Data Analytics, MBA with concentration in Data and Analytics, etc.) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Data Governance and/or Data management processes and technology.
  • Experience in a variety of data related projects (data migration, data quality implementation, data quality issue resolution, data policy implementation, data privacy, data security, data masking, data science, etc.)
  • Experience with Informatica Data Quality and/or Master Data management 
  • Understanding of data integration and standardization practices
  • Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation skills
  • Excellent ability to understand technical solutions and business goals and align them.



  • Experience in end-to-end MDM implementation 
  • Experience working with an Enterprise Metadata Management (EMM) solution in implementing or maintaining metadata repositories, Business Glossary, Data Lineage, rules management, metadata ingestion and metadata translation 
  • Specific knowledge the Collibra 
  • Experience in data discovery and data profiling.
