Salary: Our salaries generally range from $ 99646.37 to $ 124557.97 and are based on qualifications and experience.

About the role 

Join the IA and Analytics Enablement Team, in the Senior Specialist, Geospatial Analytics position. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in driving the maturity of our Geospatial Analytics capability across three primary domains: people, processes, and technology, in concert with the rest of the organization to leverage geographic data, make more informed decisions and to contribute to a well-functioning housing system.

 

This is a temporary position until January 2027.

 

What you’ll do: 

  • Lead the advancement and integration of geospatial analytics within CMHC.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement in the organization, collaborating with other experts in the field. 
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge in geospatial analytics, involving also external partners when relevant and necessary to continue driving innovation.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize geospatial analytics processes and workflows, and ensure that these processes are aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices. 
  • Promote the integration of geospatial analytics to enhance business decision-making, optimize operations, and support strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate and influence positively the IT department to ensure the effective use and adoption of geospatial technologies. 
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and innovations in the field of geospatial analytics.

 
What you should have: 

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Data Science, or another related field. 
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in geospatial analytics, with a strong understanding of GIS technologies, spatial data analysis, and geospatial data management. 
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with teams to implement innovative geospatial data products.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex geospatial concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
  • An experience working with various geospatial software and technologies, such as Databricks, ArcGIS, Carto, QGIS.

 
It would be great if you also had: 

  • Knowledge of CMHC's business and operational context. 
  • Experience with cloud-based geospatial platforms and services. 
  • Professional certifications in GIS or related disciplines.
