About the role

Join the Office of the Chief Risk Officer Team where you will lead risk management activities related to CMHC’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework, Risk Appetite Framework, top and emerging risk reporting, and risk management communication and training for employees. As the Senior Specialist, Enterprise Risk Appetite and Reporting, you will help provide clarity to CMHC employees as to the amount and type of risks they can take in meeting CMHC’s strategic objectives and help inform the Board of Directors, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI), and the Government of Canada about the risks CMHC is managing.
 

What you’ll do: 
 

  • Lead/support the quarterly risk reporting process and identify and aggregate risks impacting CMHC, to help ensure senior management and the Board of Directors have a sound understanding of key risk issues.
  • Conduct emerging risk research, analysis, and reporting to ensure CMHC’s reporting is in line with best practice.
  • Deploy CMHC’s enterprise-level Risk Appetite to ensure it is cascaded, embedded, and used at all levels of the organization. 
  • Support risk metric development, management, reporting, monitoring, and escalation activities. 
  • Maintain CMHC’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) and related policies, guidelines, tools, and procedures.
  • Assess, maintain, develop, and deploy risk management tools and related procedures. 
  • Lead/support risk management communications and training in support of CMHC’s risk culture.

 

What you should have: 
 

  • An Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • A minimum seven years of experience with increasing responsibilities in risk management, including substantive experience in enterprise risk management.
  • In-depth understanding of risk management concepts, tools, reporting, governance, and risk metrics (key risk indicators, risk appetite measures).
  • Strong communication (written and oral), organization, and project management skills, including an ability to undertake and complete concurrent tasks under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • A demonstrated ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources to convey key messages to senior management and employees at all levels.
     

It would be great if you also had: 
 

  • A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) / Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) / Professional Risk Management designation or certificate (CRM, FRM).
  • Project Management experience and/or certification.
  • Change Management experience and/or certification.
  • Bilingual (English/French).
