About the role
Join the Market Insights team, in the Senior Specialist, Economic Modelling position. In this role, you will lead and contribute to the development of economic models that analyze housing market dynamics, supporting data-driven strategies to improve housing affordability. Working at the intersection of research and policy, your work will focus on modelling housing-related economic activity to generate actionable insights. Leveraging your expertise in macroeconomic forecasting and model development, you will serve as a key technical resource and trusted expert in advancing modelling capabilities within the team and across the sector.
What you’ll do:
- Use advanced statistical and econometric modelling techniques to develop leading edge model related to the core objectives of CMHC’s aspiration.
- Contribute to the forecasting exercises from conception to completion with a focus on macroeconomic forecasting and communicating technical expertise to a seasoned audience.
- Build out our expertise in demographic projections and population mobility analysis.
- Build relationship with internal and external parties, e.g. colleagues within CMHC and other government organizations to share knowledge.
- Produce briefing material (analytical notes, reports, presentations, etc.) to senior management on matters related to Market Insights’ core objective to produce knowledge in areas where affordability issues are most acute.
- Contribute to the development of sector-level analysis planning, priority setting, and risk management.
What you should have :
- A postgraduate degree in Economics, with specialization in macroeconomics, forecasting and projections, or modelling.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in economic modelling, forecasting, and population analysis.
- Experience in conceiving and executing on complex models for business decisions and analysis.
- Excellent oral, presentation and written communications skills.
- Proficiency in coaching and mentoring others.
It would be great if you also had:
- Bilingualism (English/French).
