About the role
Join the Enterprise Data and Analytics Team, in the Senior Specialist, Data Steward position. In this role, you will deliver core data governance capabilities across the organization.
This is a temporary position of a duration of 13 month.
What you’ll do:
- Liaise with various business lines and management levels to promote data stewardship and its value as well as lead the implementation of data governance roles within the community.
- Operationalize the Data Stewardship framework, ensuring roles and responsibilities are executed in alignment with the data governance policy, directives, and standards.
- Perform internal monitoring, resolution and continuous improvement of metadata management, data issue management, data quality management, and remediation efforts and demonstrate progress through influencing KPIs.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with business stakeholders to effectively understand their data needs and respond thoughtfully to ongoing feedback, concerns, and questions regarding their data environment.
- Lead and play an active role in coordinating, contributing, developing, and presenting content to participants of data stewardship working groups.
- Advise the business on the application of various data management directives, guidelines and procedures including but not limited to data classification, data quality and metadata.
- Work with business users and subject matter experts to develop data quality rules and thresholds and enable data quality monitoring.
- Work with SMEs and Data Custodians to identify, track and prioritize data issues as well as to assess root cause and apply appropriate remediation.
What you should have:
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management or any other related field, an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- A minimum 7 years of experience in data management / governance including data project experience.
- Demonstrated experience with data governance/management platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica) and strong knowledge of data governance principles and the data lifecycle.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; ability to manage multiple priorities, work in teams, show initiative, and operate independently.
- Strong communication, presentation, influencing, negotiation, and relationship-building skills; ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences; bilingual in English and French.
It would be great if you also had:
- A broad understanding of mortgage loan insurance, affordable/social programs, real estate and finance.
- Certified Data Management Professional (DAMA) and/or Certified Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM) certifications.
