About the role
Join the Technology and Business Transformation team in the Specialist, Cloud Infrastructure Operations Engineering position. In this position, you will be responsible for infrastructure, platform engineering, managing, monitoring, and optimizing cloud infrastructure services to ensure high availability, scalability, and security. This role involves collaborating closely with architecture, development, security, and IT teams to maintain robust cloud environments. This role is pivotal in enabling digital transformation and operational excellence by ensuring the reliability and security of cloud platforms that underpin core business applications.
What you will do:
- Participate in solution design in collaboration with the Enterprise Architecture team and deploy, configure, and maintain cloud resources (compute, storage, networking) across platforms suchs as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Implement and optimize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like ARM/Bicep, Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible, ensuring automation, scalability, and reliability of cloud environments.
- Provide strategic recommendations to infrastructure leadership for automating and streamlining cloud administration, wihle proactively sharing automation strategies, cloud administration techniques, and lessons learned with peers across IT, EA, Security, and leadership, to foster a culture of operational excellence and drive the adoption of modern cloud practices.
- Advise infrastructure leadership on optimization and efficiency improvements for cloud infrastructure and processes, and mentor junior team members to foster a culture of learning and development.
- Apply and enforce cloud security best practices—including IAM, encryption, compliance standards, and leasts privilege principles—by conducting regular audits of security settings and privileged accounts to maintain a hardened and compliant cloud environment.
- Ensure operational and regulatory readiness by maintaining accountability for cloud service uptime, incident response performance, and compliance audit results, while logging and recording all security incidents and breaches in accordance with Canadian privacy legislation and OSFI breach notification and recordkeeping requirements.
- Design and implement resilient cloud architectures in partnership with the Enterprise Architecture team, delivering self-optimizing and self-healing designs using Azure native capabilities, GitHub Actions, and automation tooling.
- Industrialize operations through automation and DevOps by scripting routine tasks and workflows in Python, Bash, and PowerShell, and contributing to CI/CD pipelines for deployment and ongoing maintenance.
What you should have:
- An undergraduate degree in a related field such as information technology, computer science, or network engineering. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in cloud architecture, engineering, and operations.
- An extensive experience with hybrid entity, cloud integration (Azure AD/EntraID), and multi-cloud governance.
- An advanced expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and automation scripting (Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, Python, Bash, PowerShell) with a proven track record of designing, implementing, and optimizing automated cloud infrastructure and workflows across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
- A strong background in networking, virtualization, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud security frameworks.
- A demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor junior staff, and drive enterprise cloud adoption.
- A proven experience presenting technical and financial roadmaps to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
It would be great if you had:
- Certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate (preferred), AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer.
- A demonstrated experience implementing advanced identity security measures, including PAM solutions and SIEM/SOAR integration.
- A proven ability to design and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and industry-standard tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and GitLab CI.
- A strong knowledge of cost optimization strategies and FinOps principles.
