About the role

Join the Data & Analytics Team, in the Senior Specialist, Advanced Analytics position. In this role, you will drive our Advanced Analytics (AA, including AI) practice maturity as part of our Corporate Data Program and support AA Solution strategy and prioritization management. As the primary point of contact for handling complex analytics solution inquiries, you will provide guidance on strategic design and implementation of AA solutions from back-end components (requirements, ETL, etc.) to front-end user interaction / experience. 


What you’ll do: 

  • Continuously provide direction and implement Advanced Analytics solution operation strategy and CMHC technological escalation on new initiatives, and advise internal and external clients, including members of management.
  • Be involved in: 1) delivery of Advanced Analytics intakes including value cases creation and demonstration of advanced analytics capabilities; 2) quality control of all AA solution development projects throughout the delivery life cycle; 3) divisional AA research activities including innovative, relevant, and timely publication, and AA technology integration and innovation; 4) knowledge transferring to understand the principles/techniques utilization and develop/introduce best practices to drive organizational buy-in.
  • Handle complex and difficult Advanced Analytics inquiries and escalate highly complex issues/barriers/findings to relevant stakeholders with advice and recommendations to improve decision-making and drive business performance.
  • Collaborate within various working groups cross organization to represent as AA Solution SME.
  • Present and communicate Advanced Analytics solutions in an efficient and easily understandable way to a wide variety of audiences (internal/external, technical/non- technical), including senior management.
  • Work closely with line of business, data stewards, project/program managers, enterprise architecture, analytics architect, and other IT teams, including partners, to share AA technology information, gather business knowledge, and implement internal operation process. 
  • Partners with the Community of Practice lead to provide subject matter expertise and influence the adoption of infrastructure and technology choices that support the maturity of the AA capacity at CMHC.


What you should have:

  • An undergraduate degree in a quantitative field, such as Statistics, Economics, Commerce, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • A minimum of 7 years of advanced experience in analytics, analysis, data management, data architecture, integrated database design, data security, performance tuning, optimization methods, industrialization of initiatives including functional leadership experience in a complex data-driven organization.
  • An expert knowledge of Azure Databricks, Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark), relational databases, programming (Python and/R with Spark), data preparation tools and data visualization (e.g., Power BI, R, Python).
  • An experience defining data standards, data governance and data lineage, and data migration between database technologies.
  • An experience handling large data volumes, deep understanding of data marts, data warehouse architecture, multidimensional databases, data lakes, and data / model migration and program optimization and application scalability solutions.
  • Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills (written, verbal and cross-cultural communication skills), including the ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles as well as communicating messages at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Expert skills in identifying and analyzing trends, patterns, or connections between issues, forecasting impacts of changes, and recommending solutions.
