About the role

We’re constantly evolving to build an inclusive housing system through research, design, innovation and partnerships. You will lead a team responsible for the development, implementation and management of enterprise-wide Stress Testing, capital evaluation and ORSA models and practices that will help us make housing affordable for everyone in Canada.

 

Bring your knowledge and leadership skills to the Senior Manager, Stress Testing & Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) position.

 

What you will need

  • University degree in Business, Finance, Commerce, Actuarial, or a related program with a minimum 8 years’ work experience in related area OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Professional Accounting Designation would be considered an asset.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience leading a team.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in investment and financial modelling.
  • Demonstrated experience with an enterprise-wide stress testing program.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing ORSA.
  • Demonstrated experience in banking, capital markets, and/or insurance, with practical knowledge in mortgage valuation, retail lending, mortgage insurance and/or securitization.
  • Knowledge of macroeconomic environment and regulatory requirements/trends (e.g. Basel III, Solvency II) regulatory capital requirements, economic capital modeling, and actuarial principles.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management practices, and a broad understanding of capital markets and the economic environment.

 

What you will be doing

  • Leading and mentoring a team of professional modellers and data scientists.
  • Designing, implementing and managing the planning, conduct and reporting of CMHC's enterprise-wide Stress Testing and ORSA activities in line with financial industry best practices and evolving regulatory requirements and expectations.                                   
  • Ensuring the adequacy of CMHC's capital levels relative to CMHC’s projected risk and solvency position by recommending internal capital targets to senior management. 
  • Identifying and calculating all underlying risk exposures throughout CMHC.
  • Developing frameworks and models to quantify and measure aggregated risk exposure, which will support capital adequacy assessments and stress testing processes.
  • Ensuring that CMHC has a sustainable action plan and adequate capital resources over its planning horizon including periods of economic downturn.                   
  • Maintenance and enhancement of Economic Capital and Stress Testing model inventory.
