This position reports to the Procedures team in our Office of the SVP, Client Operations sector. This sector helps makes housing affordability solutions easy.


About the role
We’re constantly evolving to build an inclusive housing system through research, design, innovation and partnerships. Within the Homeowner Operations group, responsible for Portfolio Insurance, the incumbent provides business recommendations, intelligence, research and analysis; develops options; develops risk, pricing and related products, policies and strategies, while continually ensuring that client needs are addressed throughout the process. He will help us make housing affordable for everyone in Canada.
What you will need
• Minimum of three years of prior related experience.
• Strong strategic and analytical thinking, research and problem solving skills. Ability to synthesize and conceptualize.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Sound knowledge of mortgage financing, real estate, housing and mortgage markets and systems.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
• Knowledge of financial and risk assessment processes and procedures.
• Proficiency using SAS AG.
• Strong oral and written communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to write and present complex ideas and solutions to a variety of audiences, including senior management (both internal and external).
• Knowledge of Portfolio Insurance would be a strong asset.
• Experience in dealing with lenders at both an operational and executive level would be a strong asset.
• Homeowner Underwriting or Servicing experience would be a strong asset.
What you will be doing
• Conduct all underwriting activities for Portfolio Insurance, including lender liaison, assessment, analysis, and development of premiums for pools of loans.
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative research and risk analysis, and provide recommendations to support the Portfolio product, its associated policies and strategies, processes and procedures, and advice on matters pertaining to risk, pricing and related products, policies and strategies, and to develop and support recommendations to management for provision to senior management.
• Scan the internal and external operating environment for emerging policy and/or programs and process issues and needs for research, analysis and advice. Assess implications of the evolving business context for CMHC and its policies and programs and provide advice on implications.
• Provide analysis on specific issues and lead ad hoc projects by undertaking routine analysis and contributing to non-routine and complex analysis.
• Develop, enhance and ensure optimal utilization of data/models to measure, predict and report on risk, costs, pricing, capital, profitability and other policy benefits.
• Subject matter expert on Portfolio Insurance in the Technology Transformation initiative.
• Represent CMHC at, and organize as required, meetings, committees, working groups and consultative bodies to communicate priorities and policy positions and to obtain input into specific CMHC policy proposals.
• Develop a variety of written documentation and presentations and briefing materials in support of internal and external communications and for various policy requests as required.
• Provide input into and advice on risk, pricing and related products, policies and strategies to ensure that activities are well-aligned with CMHC and federal government priorities and emerging opportunities.
• Develop and provide input into policy options and proposals.
• Collect relevant internal and external information and inputs (qualitative and quantitative) to assess impacts and support the development/enhancement of risk and pricing assumptions, options and recommendations.
• Maintain quality relationships with clients to understand their needs and objectives and explore opportunities.
• Work in a team environment and contribute to service standards and turnaround times.
• Use effective written and oral communication techniques to deliver quality service.
• Take immediate action to address client needs and inquiries.
