About the role

Join the Investment Analytics team in the Senior Analyst, Capital Markets position. In this role, you will support CMHC’s investment strategy and operations through independent measurement of investment portfolio valuation, performance, and reporting for various stakeholders. You will also support the development and delivery of investment performance analytical tools and solutions, as well as Corporate related initiatives.

 
What you’ll do:

  • Deliver on core weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial positions, risk measurement, and performance reporting, some of which are presented to senior management and the Board.
  • Participate in the review of security pricing and market/liquidity risk monitoring for the insurance, securitization, lending or pension fund portfolios.
  • Explain financial valuations, financial results, and financial variances to various stakeholders, including internal and external auditors.
  • Document and implement effective procedures and internal controls while identifying opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiencies, and eliminate errors. 
  • Stay informed on international standards and Canadian industry best practices, identify emerging innovations and trends, and provide recommendations.
  • Support financial information system upgrades, develop user acceptance test plans, and test and validate results.
  • Act as a point of contact for various stakeholder groups including, financial reporting, external and internal investment managers, risk management, compliance, audit and legal.

 
What you should have: 

  • An undergraduate degree with a concentration in Financial Engineering, Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in financial analysis related to capital markets.
  • Demonstrated experience using financial instrument valuation software and market information system tools such as, Bloomberg and Wall Street Suite with the ability to develop system-oriented solutions in Excel/VBA, SAS, or other object-oriented languages.
  • Demonstrated reporting skills with the ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to work independently, within a team, and with various internal stakeholders.
  • Sound knowledge of conceptual and transactional elements of capital markets, fixed income instruments to structured securities and derivatives, back-office operations, treasury and risk management.

 
It would be great if you also had:

  • A professional designation completed or in progress (CFA, FRM, PRM, CIPM, CPA).
