This position reports to the Risk & Pricing Analysis team in our Office of the SVP, Client Solutions sector. This sector collaborates with our partners to solve housing affordability challenges.


About the role
We’re constantly evolving to build an inclusive housing system through research, design, innovation and partnerships. You will support modelling development, lead analysis and develop risk, pricing and related products for mortgage insurance and housing finance at large. This will help us make housing affordable for everyone in Canada.

What you will need
• Postgraduate degree in finance, actuarial, economics, statistics or a related field.
• Minimum of two to three years of experience in modelling functions.
• Some knowledge of the housing, mortgage and mortgage insurance markets and the banking system, and an awareness of CMHC's mandate and its regulatory environment.
• Strong analytical thinking, research and problem-solving skills. Ability to synthesize and conceptualize.
• Developed financial modelling, programming and quantitative skills along with a proficiency in the use of Python or R programming language. 
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
• Strong oral and written communication, including the ability to write and present complex ideas and solutions to a variety of audiences, including senior management.


What you will be doing


Risk and Pricing Modelling
• Support the development, enhancement and optimal utilization of analytical models or tools to measure, predict and report on the performance (risk, costs, pricing, capital, profitability)) of CMHC’s insurance programs.
• Make highly proficient use of the models and tools with an understanding of the modelling methodology in order to act as back-up and peer reviewers on model specification, calibration and other model-related quality assurance support.
• Ensure the model/tool developers are informed of and updated on business needs and considerations so that the models and tools continue to serve the needs.


Risk and Pricing Analysis and Recommendations
• Develop and lead plans for regular or ad-hoc pricing and other reviews / analysis to support business operations, and risk management objectives.
• Collect relevant internal and external information and inputs (qualitative and quantitative) to assess impacts and support the development/enhancement of pricing assumptions, options and recommendations.
• Conduct analyses (risk, capital, profitability, feasibility, operational, market , etc.) and develop pricing options, solutions, strategy and recommendations.
• Guide the pricing review process, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders/clients and support the implementation of the pricing reviews/analysis.


Risk and Pricing Policies, Process, Reporting and Oversight
• Support the development and implementation of ongoing risk and pricing monitoring and reporting.
