About the role
Join the Housing Economics and Insights team in the role of Senior Analyst, Housing Economics. Your skills and passion for analyzing, synthesizing and communicating economic and housing market information will help meet both internal and external client needs. 

 

This is a temporary position of 13 months.
 
What you’ll do:

  • Use analytical tools and methodologies to monitor progress, identify trends and recognize risks in the housing market so as to communicate resulting implications to more senior technical resources.
  • Monitor trends, emerging issues and impacts of changes and contribute to the development of recommended actions for CMHC. 
  • Provide input to produce CMHC analyses and publications designed for internal and/or external use.
  • Provide input into the analysis of economic and housing market activity at the national, provincial and local levels related to CMHC analysis and publications using sound econometric modelling and analytical techniques to support decision-making with internal and external partners.
  • Participate in analysis projects under the guidance of management or more senior technical experts to contribute to the function’s body of expert knowledge on economic and housing market analysis and forecasts.
  • Contribute to the recommendation of analysis topics that accurately reflect corporate, government and external client priorities.
  • Work in team and foster a collaborative work environment.

 

What you should have:

  • A postgraduate degree in economics, urban planning or related discipline.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in housing market analysis.  
  • Knowledge and understanding of external public and private data and information services involved in the monitoring and analysis of housing and economic activity.
  • The ability to analyze, synthesize and communicate economic and housing market information using tools such as R, Python and Power BI.
  • An understanding of analysis and forecasting of the general economy and housing markets.
  • Some knowledge of, and experience in the application of statistics, econometric modeling, regression analysis, seasonal adjustment, simulation and forecasting techniques and statistical software packages.
