Join the Data Governance team where our partners view CMHC as the catalyst for solving housing affordability challenges. In this position you will provide support on documenting and maintaining metadata such as definitions, lineage, catalogue, etc. in CMHC Data Governance platform, ensuring that information is complete, accurate and compliant with our directives, guidelines, and standards.



  • Implement processes and procedures along with access controls to monitor adherence to standards and guidelines. 
  • Assist in the documentation of business terms definitions, critical data elements and data classification (security and personal identifiable data).
  • Ensure access is granted according to the role base access profile, monitor the data access log and report potential issues to the Data Steward.
  • Participate in data working groups, providing recommendations on the resolution of less complex data issues, including controls to reduce issues in repeatable processes.
  • Assist with internal data governance reviews by supporting senior staff in responding to Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and by providing information regarding data classification, data lineage, location of personal or sensitive data.
  • Collaborate with the Data Stewards and the business users to document and review the data quality rules, performs data quality profiling, highlight data quality issues, and propose data quality improvement solutions.    
  • Answer lower complexity questions related to technical metadata.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree in computer science or related field, an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in data governance.
  • Knowledge of data structures (databases, data warehousing and data governance, data management, data quality).
  • Understanding of data management / governance (data classification, data profiling, data inventory, data catalog and data lineage).
  • Understanding of data modelling, data warehousing concepts and data analytics process.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to work in a team environment, take initiative and work independently.
