About the role
We’re constantly evolving to build an inclusive housing system through research, design, innovation and partnerships.  In this role, as a leadership team member of CMHC’s social and affordable agreement management team, you will manage responsibilities for the delivery of the Federal Community Housing Initiative as well as direct the management of client files. You will oversee and develop a team of staff, and manage the administration of day-to-day operations, client relations and/or data collection and research that will help us make housing affordable for everyone in Canada.

What you will need

• Undergraduate degree in a related field, such as business administration, accounting, finance or commerce.
• Minimum of seven years of relevant experience, including three years of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant experience and academic background could be considered.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment with the ability to lead others in times of change.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to influence, persuade others and present information to a variety of audiences.
• Well-developed research and data collection and intelligence-gathering skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Excellent decision-making skills.
• Good organizational skills, including project management and the ability to undertake and complete multiple concurrent tasks.
• Knowledge and understanding of CMHC housing programs, financial and property management, and social and affordable housing agreement management principles and processes.
• Understanding of the implications of public policy and political environment on federal/provincial Housing programs.

What you will be doing


Operational Oversight Management
• Develop, implement and monitor plans and processes to improve operations and promote continuous improvement.
• Analyze and deploy tactics and strategies to improve risk management and operational performance.
• Build and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders.


People Leadership 
• Set objectives and take responsibility for engagement, enabling a culture of learning, performance management and accountability
• Align people with work in order to achieve organizational objectives and results
• Monitor and oversee work unit resources while building organizational capabilities
• Set and revise operational plans to reflect changing priorities or conditions
• Demonstrate and promote stewardship of financial and human capital resources
• Take ownership and acknowledge impact and outcome of decisions
• Support the use of both official languages in the workplace and implements practices to advance an inclusive, healthy organization, that is free from harassment and discrimination
• Set objectives and establish clear expectations for successful performance by providing ongoing feedback/coaching while fostering innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability for results


Program Delivery
• Generate awareness of a broad range of products and services available from the federal government and CMHC that contribute to local housing solutions.
• Disseminate information, ideas and best practices from across Canada.
• Deliver and/or support programs for internal and external stakeholders in the achievement of client needs and long- and short-term business results.
• Ensure prudent, effective and efficient delivery as well as consistency in the application and interpretation of program policies and operational procedures.
• Provide quality, reliable and timely outputs from CMHC across regions.


Research and Analysis / Risk Assessment
• Develop strategies, identify improvements and collaborate on issue resolution with national teams, and with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
• Gather intelligence on local client needs and issues and communicate insights. Develop strategies or solutions to address client needs.
• Manage risk by monitoring the quality of results, market conditions and key performance indicators (KPIs), and by taking appropriate action.
• Resolve contentious and complex issues directly with clients or stakeholders, engaging additional internal and external resources as necessary.
• Develop and oversee data collection and leverage information to develop strategies to improve outcomes.
• Manage assets and loss prevention with a focus on enterprise-level risk assessment.
