About the role
We’re constantly evolving to build an inclusive housing system through research, design, innovation and partnerships. You will oversee the development and delivery of outreach programs that help us build a pipeline of future clients and partners, building and increasing market awareness of CMHC’s affordability goals while championing the removal of market barriers that will help us make housing affordable for everyone in Canada.
 

What you will need
• Undergraduate degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field.
• Minimum of seven years of business experience, including marketing and/or sales experience with five years of leadership experience.
• Experience in developing and negotiating partnerships.
• Strong strategic thinking skills along with strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize data and information.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to adapt messages to different audiences.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated experience in communications, intelligence and dissemination strategies and tactics.
• Good knowledge and understanding of housing markets as well as social, economic, political, technical, demographic, legal and environmental factors and trends related to housing.

 

What you will be doing

 

Client Relationship Management
• Liaises with relevant functions and key stakeholders to discuss emerging issues, identify potential business opportunities for CMHC and help catalyze new partnerships between sector actors.
• Strives to increase knowledge and understanding of objectives and issues of key stakeholders, clients, partners and association members. Aligns this understanding with federal and corporate objectives to provide input into products and services and the development of strategies and plans.
• Provides input into strategies and plans and/or leads the development of a stakeholder-client relationship management strategy to achieve sector, business line and corporate objectives and grow CMHC's business and visibility in the marketplace, obtaining input from relevant parties.
• Determines and provides advice and guidance on the programs and services that will meet various stakeholder and client needs and help them accomplish their objectives as well as bring supporting partners together to speed up project development.
• Cascades the stakeholder and client relationship management strategy, overseeing the preparation and execution of tactical plans to achieve objectives and build the client pipeline.
• Ensures ongoing consultation within the sector, regions and other business lines regarding strategies and plans to ensure that objectives, programs, communication tools and resources are based on identified stakeholder and client needs and emerging issues.
• Ensures appropriate and consistent execution of solutions to meet client and partner needs, identifying, reducing and removing market barriers.
• Engages with key industry partners and associations to access targeted clients, including developing sponsorship agreements and establishing and delivering on plans.

 

Communication
• Gathers intelligence and develops overall analysis and understanding of key audiences, technologies and opportunities to better target partners, stakeholders and clients, with the greatest impact on affordability in order to meet their needs.
• Ensures an effective mix of tools and resources by providing input into the development of marketing and communications materials. These tools are used to achieve objectives including raising awareness of the range of CMHC products, services and expertise and identifying potential partners.
• Ensures messages are tailored to resonate with stakeholders and clients, influence their views and behaviours and promote CMHC's reputation as a valuable resource in supporting them and helping them achieve their objectives.
• Works collaboratively to identify the best venues for convening groups of potential clients and partners to introduce and discuss CMHC products and services, and raises awareness of alternate funding models and resources.
• Leads the development and execution of initiatives to bring visibility to the broad range of expertise and information available from CMHC.
• Educates clients about CMHC and removes any perceptual barriers that may get in the way of prospects becoming future clients or partners.
• Ensures value propositions, messaging and communications are focused on new partners and opportunities.

 

Advice and Guidance
• Conducts research, identifies any missing information, highlights additional information that would help close any gaps or answer questions, and discusses this with appropriate groups.
• Advises senior leadership on the focus and areas where to engage outreach activities as well as the key issues and barriers to be addressed through outreach.
• Provides advice and guidance regarding stakeholder and client needs and the programs, products and services that would be helpful to them in achieving their objectives as well as any gaps identified in CMHC's offerings.
• Ensures appropriate and consistent execution of solutions to meet stakeholder and client needs, identifying areas for improvement to enhance the client experience, obtaining feedback on products and services that are not meeting needs and communicating this feedback to appropriate groups.
• Advises relevant groups and senior management with respect to the way CMHC is perceived in the market and any barriers perceived by stakeholders or clients.
