About the role
We’re constantly evolving to build an inclusive housing system through research, design, innovation and partnerships. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of data solutions both internal to CMHC and externally for housing market participants and the industries they represent.  You will be expected to set data architecture principles, create models of data that enable the implementation of the intended business architecture, establish the definitions and standards required for the data and create an inventory of the data needed to implement the architecture vision. Success will mean the implementation of a platform that provides housing market participants with access to real-time, standardized housing data.  In helping to design and implementation of the data exchange, the results will help us make housing affordable for everyone in Canada.
 

What you will need
• Undergraduate degree in computer science or engineering or in a related field.
• Minimum of seven years of advanced experience in data implementations, including functional leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Masters degree considered an asset.
• Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining data standards.
• Expert in data architecture principles.
• Extensive experience with data science/machine learning techniques for statistical analysis including regression and clustering using statistical modeling languages like R, STATA, or Python.
• Expertise in using a variety of technologies to deliver end-to-end solutions, including reports, dashboards and analytic data models (multi-dimensional and tabular).
• Expert ability to communicate abstract analytics findings to senior level stakeholders effectively.
• Expert ability to think through issues by separating out the parts of the problem or situation and thinking things through systematically.
• Expert skill in identifying and analyzing trends, patterns or connections between issues.
• Understanding, influencing and/or serving people are important considerations in causing actions or acceptance by others.


What you will be doing
• Defines and develops data architecture required for data exchange platform.
• Develops data architecture for integration into Enterprise Data Lake.
• Defines the data architecture from Logical to Physical layers.
• Leads the identification, development, promotion and implementation of data standards in housing industry (including land registry data, mortgage data, building structures).
• Leads the development of data products and solutions for external clients including dashboards and visualizations, Extract Transform Load (ETL) functions, database and Application Planning Interface (API) design.
• Develops and applies standardization methods to integrate data from numerous external sources into corporate data systems.
• Negotiates and networks with external data providers, financial institutions, government organizations and other data scientists to identify opportunities for adoption of common data sets, data standards and data solutions.
• Provides architecture thought leadership and actively participates in the design, implementation, and roll-out efforts of data architecture across the company
