Join the communications team in the Chief of Staff sector where we use financial foresight and legal insight to improve housing affordability. The Specialist, Speech Writing will support delivery of narrative as it relates to CEO and ExCo visibility plans, including promoting programs and commercial products supporting CMHC`s 2030 aspirations by being actively involved in speech-writing activities and other related communication products as required.

 

This is a temporary position for a duration of 18 months.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Serves as the primary speechwriter for CMHC and supports speech writing for Corporate.
  • Communications, covering speech-writing activities across the Corporation.
  • Ensures consistency of corporate messaging in speeches.
  • Ensures information in speeches and other communications products is comprehensive, accurate, logical and clear.
  • Creates and carries out ongoing operations of the executive’s visibility plan.
  • Develops professional presentation decks in collaboration with the Studio.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Undergraduate degree in communications or journalism (equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered).
  • Minimum of five years of prior relevant experience in speech writing.
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English.
  • Superior oral and written communication and marketing skills and the ability to present information to a variety of audiences and influence outcomes.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage numerous projects concurrently.
  • Very strong negotiation and facilitation skills.
