About the role
Join the Servicing team as a Bilingual Specialist, Servicing (Business and Portfolio Operations). In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day servicing of complex multi-unit mortgage loan insurance applications. You will lead the analysis, decision-making, and recommendations related to risk mitigation strategies on a file-by-file basis. Your expertise will help identify key risks and develop innovative solutions that protect CMHC’s interests while maintaining a high standard of client service. You will also engage in direct communicate and negotiate with clients and lenders to explore viable options, aiming to reach outcomes that minimizes CMHC's risk exposure and support its mission to help Canadians meet their housing needs.
What you'll do:
- Coordinate all activities, policies, and procedures related to effective operation of the multi-unit (MU) servicing portfolio for assigned projects. These may include MU commercial business or various housing programs.
- Review and assess lender recommendations on existing CMHC-insured loans, including covenant amendments, changes to special conditions, borrower structure modification requests, security releases, and partial sales, ensuring no additional risk is assumed by CMHC.
- Conduct financial analysis of borrowers, evaluate market conditions, and assess the financial and operational performance of properties to ensure CMHC maintains adequate security on insured loans when reviewing lenders requests.
- Provide guidance, support, and innovative solutions to clients and stakeholders, including communicating key decisions, interpretating policies, and responding to inquiries related to mortgage loan insurance.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage and maintain complex, high value client relationships.
What you should have:
- An undergraduate degree in a related field such as business administration or commerce, with a concentration in accounting, finance, or property management.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in one or more of the following areas: real estate appraisal, business turnaround strategies, asset recovery, housing finance, or default management.
- Knowledge of risk factors related to mortgage loans for multi-unit loan insurance, and housing programs.
- An ability to interpret appraisals, market and financial reports for multi-unit housing projects.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in both official languages (French and English), including negotiation skills and the ability to influence others.
It would be great if you also had:
- A professional designation such as Certified Property Manager (CPM), Certified in Real Estate Finance (CRF), or any other recognized designation from the Real Estate Institute of Canada (REIC).
- Experience in data analytics, business analytics, and financial modeling, with a proven ability to gather, interpret, and synthesize complex information to formulate recommendations, and provide strategic advice.
