About the role

Join the Compliance and Risk Governance team, in the Bilingual Senior Specialist, Risk Governance position. In this role, you will provide strategic governance advice, mentor others, and support the development of policies and risk governance documents aligned with CMHC’s risks, strategy, and risk appetite. You will maintain an up-to-date governance structure to address compliance gaps and enhancements, support the compliance program, and ensure alignment with legislative and regulatory requirements. Working closely with business lines and oversight teams, you will help maximize risk governance practices and act as a key liaison with the Chief Risk Office to support risk management documentation and tools.

 

This is a temporary position of a duration of 18 months.

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Prepare clear, insightful and value-added written analyses for management review, and proactively conduct the necessary analysis to explain policy governance structures and their alignment with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the compliance program by ensuring the accuracy and consistency of corporate-wide policies and supporting documents.
  • Contribute to the ongoing validation of the policy inventory and library, identifying and prioritizing reviews that align with business needs.  
  • Lead training sessions and provide guidance to ensure strong policy governance practices are applied across the corporation at all levels. 
  • Take a lead role in developing and maintaining risk management tools, including SharePoint, dashboards, Power BI reporting, and GRC systems.
  • Provide analytical support for the creation of senior management reports (e.g. Quarterly Risk Management, Quarterly Financial reporting, etc.), ensuring data validation and quality control checks are performed, and accuracy and relevance are maintained. 
  • Drive continuous improvement in generating risk governance metrics, including enterprise and business-level risk appetite measures and key performance indicators, and lead follow-up actions to achieve desired results, including any necessary revisions.

 

What you should have: 

 

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Education, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in risk management, governance, and compliance, with strong knowledge of the regulatory landscape applicable to Crown corporations, as well as expertise in data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in both official languages (English and French), including the ability to deliver persuasive presentations and engage in constructive debate with diverse audiences using tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment. 
  • Strong proficiency in technical tools and data collection methods, including advanced Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, and workflow systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and systems-thinking capabilities. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables and make effective, well-informed decisions under pressure.

 

It would be great if you also had: 

 

  • Knowledge of educational methodologies will be considered an asset.
