Join the Enterprise Data Office (EDO) in the role of Bilingual Senior Manager, Data and Information Governance. You will lead and support a team that provides corporate data services, provides strategic input into policy direction, data compliance and performance measurement and, ensure business objectives are met, implement effective client relationship management practices for internal and external EDO stakeholders.

 

You will manage and oversee different aspects of the Enterprise Data Governance and Compliance activities as well as Information Management activities. The activities include evolving the Enterprise Data Framework with the mandate of enabling the data and information governance operating model, the planning and delivery of data management and governance services such as metadata management and data life cycle management. You will be driving the alignment between EDO and other corporate functions to ensure all Data Management and Governance capabilities are implemented through initiatives and processes. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and maintain an integrated and comprehensive Corporate Data Governance Framework and Information Management Policy which will allow the organization to value data as an asset.
  • Define and implement the suite of policies, directives, standards, and guidelines to support the enterprise-wide adoption of data capabilities and practices in support of improving data management and governance processes, including, Data Management, Metadata Management, Data Lifecycle Management.
  • Establishes and implements standardized frameworks, repeatable processes, controls and KPIs to measure and improve Data and Information Governance functional performance. 
  • Develop, document, and maintain enterprise standards, guidelines, and policies to ensure standardization of Data Governance and Management practices across the organization. 
  • Lead the establishment and purpose of structured and unstructured data committees, councils and working groups and maintains the decision and the risk registers.  
  • Develop Metrics and KPIs to report on progress of data governance and management across the organization including metrics to clearly articulate value delivery. 
  • Define and execute processes to periodically ensure compliance to Data Governance and Management standards, policies, and guidelines; define and execute attestation processes and lead periodic reviews to ensure adherence
  • Create opportunities that encourage bilingualism and diversity and implement practices to advance an inclusive, healthy organization, respectful of the diversity of people and their skills and free from harassment and discrimination.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as computer systems, information management, or business administration.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant data governance and management experience, including 5 years in a leadership role.                    
  • Extensive experience with data governance and implementation of data stewardship and information management practices, processes, and related technologies (i.e.: Informatica, Collibra, or other tools). 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data lifecycle management along with understanding of data modelling and data architecture.
  • Good exposure to data lake architecture and application of data lifecycle controls in the data lake.
  • Extensive experience of developing metrics, KPIs, KRIs and comprehensive business cases.
  • Strong knowledge of governance frameworks and performance measures.               
  • Extensive knowledge of information management standards, implementation approaches, and external and internal compliance requirements.                                         
  • Strong leadership skills to influence behaviours and direction, and persuade others to follow a plan of action, including the ability to provide strategic advice to Senior Management.
  • Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written, with extensive experience in developing and operationalizing policies, directives, and standards.
  • Bilingualism (English and French).                                                                         
  • Ability to evolve and institutionalize behaviours for appropriate use of sensitive information (incl. Personal Information).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple initiatives simultaneously and under tight deadlines.                     
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to capture and synthesize information and develop recommendations.

 

Preferred qualifications:

 

  • Master’s degree and/ or certifications in data-related areas. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, word, excel, etc.)
