About the role

Join the Finance - Insurance and Securitization Team in the Bilingual Senior Business Partner, Finance position. You will lead the synthesis and delivery of strategic and operational financial advisory services. You will act as a business partner, establish robust financial processes and provide business insights on which financial decisions can be made. You will support the business on operational finance needs, optimal budget management, and financial planning and forecasting. You will also proactively develop an in-depth understanding of the business operations through discussion and analysis, distilling financial needs end-to-end for the finance function and gaining trust as a business partner. You will be heavily involved in the business improvement drive to manage a portfolio of process, system and reporting improvements. You will conduct financial modelling activities, develop, implement, interpret and report on performance measures.

 

What you'll do:  

 

  • Foster a business-partnering dynamic, understand both finance and business dimensions and focus on providing proactive analysis and guidance to clients, leveraging available systems and tools.
  • Act as the "single window to Finance," helping clients navigate end-to-end financial requirements, establish robust financial processes that provide business insights on decision-making needs.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and analyze the results of key budgeting and financial planning processes, including zero-based budgeting, the annual Corporate Plan, financial forecasting, and reporting on actual expenses.
  • Assist clients with day-to-day operational finance needs, including advice on optimal budget management, guidance on workforce planning decisions and application of financial policies and guidelines.
  • Lead finance business improvement activities covering processes, system and reporting enhancements focused on transformation, productivity and value creation.
  • Collaborate on the development, implementation, standardization and monitoring of performance indicators, measures and targets to ensure that stakeholder expectations are met.
  • Apply an understanding of business performance measures and deliver analysis and advice which provides meaningful insights into the underlying drivers of performance for operational and strategic metrics, key expense performance indicators, benchmark comparisons and other variables, and provide recommendations to senior management to optimize client performance.
  • Provide advice, guidance and recommendation to internal clients (ranging from middle management to senior vice-presidents) with regards to business initiatives, business cases, financial guidelines and policies, risk management, financial planning and costing in line with CMHC’s strategy.
  • Conduct analyses to cost, evaluate, challenge and support business cases including narratives and ensure they support CMHC’s overall strategy.

 

What you should have:
  

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as accounting, finance, business administration, economics or commerce.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in finance-related roles such as financial planning and analysis (FP&A), finance business partnering, business analysis, commercial finance, financial reporting, technical accounting, or business improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a particularly strong command of Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis tools.
  • Results oriented, team player, strong analytical skills, critical thinking, storytelling with business mindset.
  • An excellent ability to gather and analyze information, synthesize key elements and summarize with recommendations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and work in a multi-demand environment while overseeing the work of other financial professionals with strong interpersonal and team leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both official languages (French and English), including the ability to deliver clear and compelling presentations and explain complex financial concepts to diverse audiences, while effectively influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

 

It would be great if you also had:  
 

  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, or Master of Business Administration (MBA) is preferred; candidates holding a CPA or actively pursuing it will be given strong consideration.
  • Experience with financial ERP systems, budgeting software, and data visualization tools such as Power BI is considered an asset.
  • A Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or PMP designation.
