This position is non-location specific, such as based in Ottawa; however there’s a possibility that the successful candidate may be able to work from another CMHC office location in Canada. We invite both English and Bilingual (English & French) candidates to apply.

  

This 2-year temporary full time position is an exceptional opportunity to become a member of the Corporate Information Governance team, where you will be responsible for the Information Management (IM) and Record Management (RM) functions (maintenance of record classifications, retention schedule, disposition of records, roadmap for records management and secure storage). You will be providing sound advice to business clients and partners relating to CMHC information/records. You will also be developing and adopting records management standards and guidelines, and abides by them in the provision and oversight of third party services to the organization. Finally, you will be participating in the implementation of a new electronic document and records management solution.

 

How You Will Be Contributing

 

  • Providing functional/ expert guidance and direction to stakeholders on data/information governance policies.
  • Developing, recommending, implementing and managing policies, guidelines, standards and best practice tools for physical and electronic records management.
  • Managing the development of organizational based structures for information repositories that support the efficient storage and retrieval of electronic information and records
  • Ensuring, through consultation with clients, that records management practices are integrated into the design of business system applications, work processes and management functions.
  • Overseeing the assessment and transferring of archival records to Library and Archives Canada (LAC).
  • Gathering information from a variety of sources (including vendors) to identify, research, and analyze trends and innovations.
  • Developing performance measurement indicators, measuring progress and reporting as appropriate.
  • Liaising with assigned senior counsel and impacted business units through the various stages of the legal hold process to ensure corporate compliance.
  • Developing an effective training framework and comprehensive modules to promote records management awareness and developing improved practices throughout the organization.
  • Overseeing the delivery of comprehensive functional IM/RM training and information sessions related to new IM/RM technologies, processes, etc.

 

What We Are Looking For

 

  • A commitment to demonstrating CMHC values.
  • University degree in Information Records Management, Information Resource Management (IRM), Library and Information, Business Administration or in a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of increasing responsibilities and relevant work experience/expertise in Information Management (IM) or in Records Management (RM). An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in implementing and managing an effective data/information governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in a federal government environment with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing technical guidance and direction to clients while meeting their business goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining a professional relationship with business partners (external and internal).
  • Knowledge of IM/RM theories, principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of IM/RM systems/technology and ability to assess implications of emerging technology.
  • Ability to conduct archival and preservation appraisals.
  • Ability to balance the big picture with meeting the day-to-day needs of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to influence at multiple levels within the organization and promote cross functional collaboration.
  • Advanced skills in the areas of analytical thinking, multi-tasking, deadline oriented, client focus and teamwork.

 

Asset:

  • Professional designations in the following: Enterprise Content Management (ECM); Enterprise Records Management (ERM); Certified Records Manager, or any other relevant licence, designation, or certificate.
