Bilingual Manager, Media Relations (Position can be located anywhere in Canada)

Join the Chief of Staff Team, where we use financial foresight and legal insight to improve housing affordability. This exciting position will lead the team responsible for the ongoing development, management and execution of CMHC’s strategy related to public relations and earned media. Directs the development and implementation of issues management. Effectively builds and manages relationships with ministers’ office, Privy Council Office Communications and other government departments.




  • Contributes to the development of media relations strategies for the corporation
  • Provides strategic advice, guidance, information, intelligence and expertise to senior management and internal clients to manage reputational issues
  • Provides direction to a team responsible for developing and implementing public relations and media outreach campaigns.
  • Plays an important role in CMHC’s crisis communications protocol and on the Incident Management Team, providing support in times of issues and emergencies.
  • Oversees employee spokesperson training and tools for employees.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in journalism or communications or another relevant field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Minimum of seven years of relevant work experience in media relations, public relations or communications. 
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory/management experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of media relations practices and the media landscape in Canada.
  • Knowledge of Crisis Communications practices.



Additional Assets:
•    Experience working in a newsroom will be considered as an asset.
