In the role of Bilingual Manager, Credit Risk and Financial Analysis, you will lead a team of Credit Specialists and oversee all risk recommendations and decisions related to Financial Capacity Reviews supporting Multi-Unit Mortgage Loan Insurance (MU MLI) Underwriting. You will serve as a subject matter expert on complex financial assessments for large borrowers, guiding reviews through the Rental Housing Credit Committee (RHCC) approval process. You will also build and maintain strong business relationships with internal clients including Underwriting, Housing Solutions, and Financial Institutions, as well as external clients. Your expertise will ensure independent, high quality financial capacity assessments that support both MU MLI and Housing Programs.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage a team of credit specialists and oversee the prudent, effective, and efficient delivery of financial capacity reviews in support of multi-unit mortgage loan insurance Underwriting, through the manager and peer review process.
  • Discuss and defend the recommendations on complex borrower financial capacity reviews with Underwriters, client solutions, and, when required, with lenders and borrowers.
  • Demonstrate leadership through participation in the MU MLI community and by providing advice to senior management that shapes functional policies and processes.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and trusted resource, offering guidance and support to colleagues in navigating complex challenges or situations, particularly in the preparation and presentation of cases to the Rental Housing Credit Committee.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and provide strategic guidance and recommendations through the manager and peer review process for complex financial capacity assessments, particularly those involving intricate borrower structures, elevated construction risks, significant financial exposures, and policy exceptions, as applicable.

What you should have:

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field such as business, finance, or commerce.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience, including at least three years in a supervisory role or equivalent, with a focus on conducting complex financial capacity reviews and coaching others.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk, financial markets related to mortgage loan financing, and credit risk management policies and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis and statements, borrower legal structures, and real estate financing, with sound knowledge of appraisal, building technology, real estate law, and property management.
  • Proven analytical reasoning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills in the context of credit and financial analysis.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in both official languages (French and English), including the ability to persuade, negotiate, and influence effectively in technical and professional contexts.
  • Solid understanding of market trends and developments in Canada, as well as familiarity with key industry partners and external client groups, including their legal structures and documentation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and to act as a trusted resource in supporting staff through complex credit scenarios.
