About the role
Join the Enterprise Data Office where we lead digital transformation to accelerate housing affordability. CMHC is building a robust data stewardship practice from the ground up. A key member of this transformation, The Community of Practice (CoP) Lead is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading CMHC’s enterprise-wide Data Stewardship Community. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for providing strategy, planning, implementation, monitoring and learning for the community of practice.
What you’ll do:
Strategy / Planning:
- Complete strategic planning, in line with corporate data strategy, to create and maintain implementation plans.
- Support the development of the Data Stewardship Framework.
Implementation:
- Lead the development and execution of short-, medium- and long- term tactics for the implementation of the community; Develops and delivers the communications plan; Liaises with various business lines and management levels to promote data stewardship and its value to increase adoption.
- Operationalize the Data Stewardship framework, ensuring roles and responsibilities are executed in alignment with the data governance policy, directives, and standards.
- Lead the implementation of stewardship roles within the community, including business and technology stakeholders.
- Implement the community governance, aligned with the stewardship framework, and coordinates cadence of meetings with the community, including development of agendas, creating and collecting materials and managing presenters (as applicable).
Learning:
- Guide members with a view to obtaining certifications, accreditations and/ or other items that are relevant and desirable for their roles and responsibilities.
- Lead the utilization of Data Management and Governance technology tools.
- Develop training materials and guidelines and procedures.
Monitoring:
- Apply change management and communications techniques to introduce and maintain engagement in the community.
- Develop a measurement framework, including monthly indicators to determine engagement and improvement of the community/stewardship service offering.
What you should have:
- Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Data Science, Analytics, Information Management, or related fields combined with a minimum of 7 years of demonstrated experience in leading others through change or managing communities of practice OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Data Stewardship and/or Data Governance.
- Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills (written, verbal and cross-cultural communication skills), including the ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles as well as communicating messages that have the desired effect.
- Bilingualism (English and French)
- Demonstrated negotiation, influencing and relationship building skills.
It would be great if you also had:
- Experience in training or event communications.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing and supporting Communities of Practice.
- Change management experience or certifications.
