Join the Data Governance team where our partners view CMHC as the catalyst for solving housing affordability challenges. In this position you are primarily responsible for documenting and maintaining data quality rules, data lineage and data catalogue and ensuring that the documentation is complete, accurate and compliant with directives, guidelines and standards.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a subject matter expert on the data assets and play an active role in data working groups to deliver a given mandate or resolve a specific issue.
- Ensures access is granted according to the rules provided by the business and monitors the data access log and reports potential issues to the Data Steward.
- Advise business stakeholders on the application of various data management controls to support guidelines and standards including: Data Classification, Data Retention and Disposal, and Metadata.
- Act as the first point of contact for data-related requests such as requirements for data profiling, assistance with data quality issues investigation or information regarding location of data assets and how to access them.
- Works with divisional specialists and the data stewards to document metadata (including business terms definitions and data classification), assess and refine the data quality rules, and proposes data quality improvements.
- Produce reports and dashboards to monitor the quality of data and corporate information governance progress and performance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management or any other related field, an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in data management / governance including recent data project experience.
- Demonstrated experience with configuring/implementing data quality rules and using a Data Governance / Management Platform (e.g. Collibra and Informatica platform).
- Solid understanding of data governance principles and data management process including data management lifecycle.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work on several initiatives simultaneously with tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and presentation skills in both official languages (English and French) with the ability to relate technical information to a non-technical audience.
