About the role
Join the Accounting Operations Team in the Bilingual Clerk, Accounting position. Your skills and passion for accounting, data analysis and process improvements will support the accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) process execution and/or cash management transactions in order to efficiently support CMHC’s financial transactional needs.
This is a temporary position for a duration of 12 months.
What you’ll do:
- Process AP, AR, vendor requisitions and/or cash management transactions.
- Create and maintain vendors and customers master data records.
- Follow -up on outstanding transactions, prepare payment requests and journal vouchers, record receipts and collect AR.
- Verify transactions submitted for processing such as approvals, coding and supporting documentation for compliance with applicable policies and guidelines.
- Support internal and external clients in understanding and adhering to requirements.
- Analyze and review financial reports, clarify, and explain financial implications and issues.
- Issue updated reports for external and internal clients for distribution and publication when applicable.
- Participate in system and process improvements.
What you should have:
- A post-secondary education with a concentration in accounting or finance and one year of experience in accounting-related positions with increasing responsibilities OR, an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- A demonstrated work experience in processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- A demonstrated experience in applying corporate financial policies, practices and procedures.
- Experience with Dynamics and Microsoft suite.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills (balance of workloads and the prioritization of requests to meet deadlines).
- A strong attention to detail and good client service.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- A good knowledge of accepted accounting principles.
- Bilingualism (French and English).
It would be great if you also had:
- 1-3 years of recent work experience in an accounting-related position.
- Experience in Bookkeeping.
