About the role
We’re constantly evolving to build an inclusive housing system through research, design, innovation and partnerships. You will provide advice, in the oversight capacity, on risks of CMHC's Multi-Unit and Assisted Housing business activities (e.g. business strategy, policies, initiatives, products, system, credit approval, etc.) that support the Chief Risk Officer and other director decisions. You will help with the development of risk appetite statements and tolerances, as well as oversight strategy, best practices, tools, and reporting that will help us make housing affordable for everyone in Canada.

What you will need
• Postgraduate degree in a related field such as: business, finance, economics, commerce or actuarial science.
• Professional finance designation such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and/or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) is considered a strong asset.
• Minimum of 7 years of prior relevant experience, e.g. in banking, insurance, financial industries or in a financial oversight function.
• Extensive knowledge of Canadian financial industry.
• Expert financial and risk analysis skills.
• Demonstrated strategic thinking.
• Demonstrated expertise in providing technical leadership and ability to lead multi-disciplinary projects, develop and assign project priorities.
• Detailed understanding of all key risks of CMHC's environment, especially financial and mortgage risks
• Demonstrated experience in analyzing complex credit transactions, interpreting economic trends and market relationships.
• Superior oral and written communication and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to interact and influence a wide stakeholder group, including senior management, business technical, or oversight stakeholders.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working and client relationships.


What you will be doing

• Conduct analysis and research and provide expert advice on risks associated with multi-unit and Assisted Housing activities, including: the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks. As well as compliance to risks policies, procedures and guidelines and effective challenge of the business recommendations (e.g. strategy, new initiatives, pricing, new products, policies, credit decisions, etc.).
• Support the enhancement of risk reporting and measuring complex risk exposure.
• Develop and maintain productive relationships between CRO with internal and external partners to support effective oversight.
• Support the development and deployment of an effective oversight approach and sound framework for managing key risks of multi-unit and Assisted Housing activities, in accordance with the three lines of defense governance model.
• Skills in motivating, understanding, and/or developing people are critical to the achievement of results through others
