About the role 

Join the Infrastructure and Operations team, in the Advisor, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering position. The Advisor, provides senior technical advisory support for the evolution and continuous improvement of the organization’s cloud and infrastructure platforms across public cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments. The role contributes to cloud infrastructure strategy, standards, reusable patterns, operational guardrails, and modernization roadmaps, ensuring infrastructure solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, supportable, cost-conscious, and aligned with business objectives, IT strategy, operational requirements, security expectations, and enterprise standards. 

Working in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture, infrastructure leadership, security, application, platform, and delivery teams, the Advisor provides technical guidance, design input, and practical validation for cloud and infrastructure solutions. The role combines senior advisory responsibilities with hands-on technical assessment, proof-of-concept work, and operational readiness reviews to confirm that proposed solutions are feasible, secure, resilient, observable, and supportable. Through collaboration, influence, and technical credibility, the Advisor helps inform cloud platform adoption, infrastructure modernization, and consistent engineering practices across the enterprise.

What you’ll do:  

• Evaluate emerging cloud services, infrastructure platforms, and technologies to support business objectives, operational needs, and future-state infrastructure capabilities. 
• Conduct technical, operational, risk, security, and cost analyses to inform cloud strategy, infrastructure roadmaps, modernization initiatives, and investment decisions. 
• Provide design input and technical guidance for cloud-centric infrastructure solutions that balance security, scalability, resiliency, availability, supportability, performance, and cost optimization in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture and key stakeholders. 
• Perform hands-on technical validation, proof-of-concept activities, and design assessments to confirm feasibility, operational readiness, security, resiliency, observability, and supportability of proposed cloud and infrastructure solutions. 
• Ensure cloud and infrastructure recommendations align with security, privacy, risk, resilience, regulatory, and OSFI expectations, while identifying design gaps, technical debt, operational risks, and improvement opportunities. 
• Research, assess, pilot, and recommend new technologies, vendors, and services that support cloud modernization, infrastructure reliability, automation, and long-term sustainability. 
• Support the development and adoption of cloud infrastructure standards, engineering principles, reference designs, reusable patterns, policies, operational guardrails, and API platform requirements. 
• Contribute to secure and scalable foundations for AI platforms, including landing zones, networking, identity, access controls, data access patterns, observability, supportability, and compliance requirements.
• Provide senior technical guidance through design reviews, the Cloud Infrastructure Design Forum, mentoring, stakeholder influence, risk discussions, and trusted advisory support across infrastructure, platform, security, application, and delivery teams. 

What you should have:

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
• At least 10+ years of IT experience, including 5+ years in senior technical roles, with a proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale cloud and infrastructure solutions, platform designs, and technical roadmaps.
• An extensive expertise in Azure, cloud infrastructure, and hybrid environments, including cloud platform design, validation, governance, and operations. 
• A strong knowledge of application platforms, middleware, virtualization, Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), capacity planning, and platform engineering. 
• A hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Linux/UNIX environments (e.g., Red Hat, AIX), and designing scalable, resilient containerized platforms. 
• An experience enabling DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and cloud-native engineering practices. 
• A deep understanding of enterprise networking, data platforms, database infrastructure, cloud security, identity and access management, encryption, monitoring, compliance, and resiliency. 
• An expertise in designing and governing AI platform infrastructure and API management platforms (e.g., Azure AI Services, Azure API Management), including landing zones, networking, RBAC, security, scalability, observability, operational supportability, and governance.
