About the Role
Join the Platform Engineering team, in the Senior Specialist, Software Engineering & Environment Management position, where we’re modernizing how CMHC builds and operates software platforms. As Senior Specialist, you’ll learn current model, design and evolve reusable infrastructure pipelines that provision, configure, and maintain CMHC’s cloud environments reporting to the platform engineering manager. Working with platform, security, and application teams, you’ll build automation that allows environment provision, patching, data refreshes, compliance self-service, scalability, and security. This role is ideal for someone passionate about platform enablement, policy-as-code/Infrastructure-as-code and engineering excellence—helping CMHC teams deliver faster with confidence.


What you’ll do:

 

  • Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and infrastructure pipelines (ARM, Azure, Bicep, Terraform, Helm) to provision and update Azure environments.
  • Standardize automation patterns and reusable modules for environment setup, configuration, and data refresh.
  • Partner with platform and DevOps teams to pair application CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation pipelines for full-stack delivery.
  • Embed security controls, RBAC and policy-as-code into provisioning workflows to ensure compliance and consistency.
  • Build self-service capabilities and documentation, enabling teams to deploy and refresh environments independently.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of monitoring, observability, and resilience within infrastructure pipelines.
  • Coach engineers and analysts on IaC principles and Azure DevOps best practices.


What you should have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years in DevOps, cloud automation & Software delivery support.
  • In depth experience with Azure services.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Experience embedding security and governance into automation workflows.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills to guide cross-functional teams.


Technologies you’ll work with:

 

  • Dynamics 365 CRM, Dynamics 365 F&O ERP.
  • GitOps, policy-as-code tools (Azure Policy, OPA), and progressive delivery strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD processes, leveraging software engineering.
  • ARM, Bicep, Helm.
  • Azure DevOps.
  • Terraform.
  • Azure: AKS, Logic Apps, Service Bus, gestion des API.


It would be great if you also had:

 

  • Experience working in a DevOps enablement or platform team.
  • Experience with solution packaging and deployment pipelines for Dynamics 365.
  • Knowledge of progressive delivery strategies (feature flags, blue-green, canary).
  • Familiarity with compliance automation and policy-as-code.
  • Skills in building developer onboarding or paved road experiences.
  • A Microsoft Certification as a DevOps Engineer Expert and/or Azure Administrator Associate.
  • Experience in the insurance or finance sectors.
