About the role
Join the Business Solutions Engineering team, in the Release Coordinator position, where you will work closely with development, product, and operations teams to implement and manage a release management framework that ensures smooth, low-risk deployments. CMHC is committed to continuously improving our IT services and operational efficiency. Introducing the Release Coordinator role is a strategic step to strengthen our capabilities and ensure we meet the evolving needs of our clients and stakeholders. We are on a journey to modernize how we build and deliver software by fostering a culture rooted in collaboration, shared ownership, and engineering excellence. This role is ideal for someone passionate about enabling teams, driving automation, and promoting DevOps best practices across the organization.
What you’ll do:
- Design and evolve an implementation plan template to help streamline the release processes, ensuring all change management checklist is respected.
- Coordinate release, scheduling, and execution across cross-functional teams to align with business objectives.
- Collaborate with platform, DevOps, infrastructure and security teams to capture risks and dependencies.
- Build a communication strategy around the releases and implementation.
- Build comprehensive release documentation, including release notes and training materials to ease adoption.
- Support compliance and governance by enforcing standards.
- Conduct post-release reviews to evaluate success, identify lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement.
- Present changes and releases at change advisory board.
What you should have:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering or related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in either IT Portfolio management, solution delivery & coordination or experience collaborating with developers and product teams in delivery logistics and planning.
- Strong experience and knowledge working with ITIL, Devops, Agile, SAFe & change management processes.
- Familiarity with GitOps, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep), container orchestration, Azure services (AKS, App Services, Functions, EventHub, API Management, SQL, VNets, AzureFirewall)
- Strong communication skills, coaching skills to guide and mentor teams with the help of documentation and the ability to break down complex technical terms to a non-technical audience.
Technologies:
- Strong proficiency with Azure DevOps.
- Knowledge of PowerShell, Bash, or Python for scripting and automation tasks.
- Knowledge of Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and SonarQube to ensure pipeline health and compliance.
- Familiarity with Backstage or similar platforms to support self-service experiences and reusable templates.
It would be great if you also had:
- Experience working in a DevOps enablement or platform team.
- Experience with solution packaging and deployment pipelines.
- Knowledge of progressive delivery strategies (feature flags, blue-green, canary).
- Experience in the insurance or finance sectors.
