About the role
Join the Housing Programs Team, in the Senior Officer, Operations (Construction Financing) position. In this role you will support projects approved under CMHC’s ACLP program by managing the advancing and disbursement of funds throughout the construction process until completion. You will also help ensure housing projects funded by CMHC are successfully constructed or renovated, while also ensuring that risks to CMHC are appropriately managed.
This is a temporary position of a duration of 24 months.
What you'll do:
- Review, process and approve funding requests and monitor the ongoing construction of Multi-Unit housing projects within the financial limits and budgetary authority.
- Review supporting documentation and professional third-party reports, such as, quantity surveyor reports, environmental site assessments, appraisals to assess risks to CMHC and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and clients to ensure funding conditions are met and satisfied prior to advancing funds.
- Contribute to internal performance monitoring and quality assurance processes by preparing and reviewing detailed outcome reports, collaborating within a team environment, and supporting service standards and turnaround times.
- Maintain quality relationships with clients to understand their needs and objectives.
What you should have:
- A bachelor’s degree in administration, finance, or accounting, or a combination of education and experience may be considered.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in construction financing, property administration or commercial mortgage funding.
- Demonstrated client management skills with the ability to negotiate with clients and arrive at acceptable solutions.
- Ability to interpret program guidelines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
It would be great if you also had:
- A certification as a: Certified in Real Estate Finance (CRF), Certified Property Manager (CPM), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS), Canadian Risk Manager (CRM) or Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) designation.
- Knowledge of Multi-Unit underwriting principles and practices.
- Experience in building reports and/or in using statistical analysis software such as MS Excel.
