About the role

Join the Multi-Unit Compliance and Risk Operations Team, in the Senior Analyst, Compliance and Solutions position, where you will play a key role in assessing borrower non-compliance with social outcomes requirements and supporting risk-based decision-making. In this role, you will provide expert guidance to lenders and stakeholders, contribute to risk mitigation and policy interpretation, and support continuous improvement through comprehensive analysis and clear documentation. As a subject-matter expert, you will ensure compliance with CMHC’s Certificate of Insurance requirements and help protect CMHC’s interests.

 

What you should do:

 

  • Lead complex risk remediation initiatives by identifying root causes of non-compliance and driving effective, sustainable solutions.
  • Assess and resolve high-impact compliance cases, using sound judgment to balance financial, operational, and reputational risks.
  • Partner with Approved Lenders to manage complex and contentious cases, influencing outcomes aligned with organizational risk objectives.
  • Provide expert guidance and policy interpretation, helping stakeholders navigate ambiguous situations and compliance requirements.
  • Analyze trends and emerging risks to identify systemic issues and recommend improvements to controls, policies, and frameworks.
  • Develop strategic recommendations and present solutions for complex cases to senior leaders and governance committees.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and internal partners, fostering collaboration and delivering exceptional service.
  • Drive continuous improvement by influencing compliance practices, enhancing risk management strategies, and contributing to program-wide operational excellence.

 

What you should have:

 

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Commerce, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 3+ years of experience in mortgage loan insurance, credit risk, lender compliance, financial risk management, or a related field.
  • A strong understanding of mortgage lending practices, including underwriting, loan administration, monitoring, and claims management.
  • A proven ability to assess complex compliance and risk issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and develop effective remediation strategies.
  • Excellent analytical and risk assessment skills, with the ability to evaluate financial, operational, and reputational risks and make sound recommendations.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing and collaborating with diverse partners and clients.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage complex or escalated cases, prepare audit-ready documentation, and work effectively across cross-functional teams.

 

It would be great if you also had:

 

  • A professional designation (or progress toward one) in risk management, finance, compliance, lending, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar case management platforms, combined with the ability to influence stakeholders through risk-based recommendations and strategic insights.
